Abstract

Menempati posisi kedua dengan industri garmen terbesar di dunia, membuat Bangladesh mempekerjakan banyak buruh garmen. Anak-anak di bawah umur menjadi korban karena dijadikan buruh garmen demi mengejar dan memenuhi target permintaan pasar. Isu ini menarik perhatian global, maka hadirlah International Labour Organization (ILO) sebagai organisasi internasional yang berfokus menangani isu terkait buruh di dunia. Demi memerangi isu ini, pemerintah Bangladesh dan ILO kerja sama dalam membuat kebijakan dan melakukan upaya-upaya demi membela hak-hak dan kesejahteraan buruh anak di bawah umur Bangladesh, meskipun masih ada tantangan yang menghambat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menjelaskan berbagai upaya yang dilakukan dan hasil yang dicapai dalam menangani eksploitasi buruh garmen di bawah umur. Data yang disajikan diperoleh dari berbagai data sekunder melalui studi kepustakaan dan penelusuran informasi secara online. Kemudian, teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah berdasarkan teknik deskriptif dan eksplanatif. Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan, dapat dilihat bahwa pemerintah Bangladesh dan ILO masih harus mengeluarkan kebijakan yang lebih fokus pada buruh garmen di bawah umur dan meningkatkan upaya yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya./Bangladesh are the second-biggest garment sector globally. They employ a significant number of garment workers. Minors are used as laborers in the clothing industry to fulfill and achieve market demand goals, making them vulnerable to becoming victims. The increase in this issue globally has encouraged the emergence of the International Labour Organization (ILO) as an international organization that focuses on solving labour problems throughout the world. To address this problem, the government of Bangladesh and the ILO collaborated to develop regulations and undertake initiatives to protect the rights and welfare of underage workers in Bangladesh, especially in the garment industry from exploitation practices. However, their efforts still encounter obstacles. This study uses qualitative methodology to explain the various efforts made and the results achieved in overcoming the exploitation of underage workers in the garment industry. The data provided comes from various secondary sources, including extensive book reviews and internet information searches. The data analysis strategy used is based on descriptive and explanatory methodology. Based on these findings, it is clear that the government of Bangladesh and the ILO should prioritize developing policies that specifically target underage garment workers and improve the effectiveness of previous initiatives.
