Abstract

Pempek menjadi salah satu ciri khas kuliner dari kota Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. Pempek menjadi semakin dikenal luas seiring berjalannya waktu, sehingga seringkali dijadikan sebagai oleh-oleh khas kota Palembang. Salah satu restoran atau tempat makan yang menyediakan pempek sebagai oleh-oleh adalah Pempek Candy yang telah berdiri sejak tahun 1996. Pempek Candy menyajikan citra khas Palembang melalui produk yang ditawarkan. Faktor terpenting dalam mempertahankan eksistensi hingga saat ini adalah dengan menciptakan citra yang baik melalui identitas visual sebuah brand. Namun, identitas visual yang dimiliki terdapat beberapa permasalahan yaitu kurangnya sebuah image/identitas dari brand. Selain itu, visi dan misi dari perusahaan tersebut tersampaikan kepada konsumennya. Penerapan identitas visual pada aplikasi desain masih mengalami inkonsistensi. Inkonsistensi visual dapat menimbulkan kekeliruan pada target market yang dapat mengakibatkan hilangnya kepercayaan dari konsumen. Tujuan dari penulisan makalah ini adalah untuk menganalisis permasalahan identitas visual yang dimiliki oleh Pempek Candy dan memecahkan permasalahan tersebut dengan dilakukannya perancangan identitas visual. Perancangan ini menggunakan metodologi dari Alina Wheeler dan pada tahapan selanjutnya adalah melakukan perancangan ulang identitas visual dan aplikasinya. / Pempek is widely recognized as one of the most iconic traditional culinary from Palembang city, South Sumatera. Pempek has risen in popularity as time passes, thus, oftenly bought as goods distinctively coming from Palembang. A popular Palembang-originated restaurant that has been serving Pempek since 1996 is called Pempek Candy. Pempek Candy succeeds to showcase unique characteristics of Pempek through their products. The most crucial factor in order to preserve the conspicuous existence of a brand in a long term is to create a memorable impression through one's visual identity. However, visual identity is prone to several obstacles, the lack of an image from the said brand for instance. In addition, informations about visions and missions from the mentioned enterprise are not fully distributed to the consumers. There is also inconsistency in implementing visual identity through their application, such as business card, menu, employees' uniform, and more. This inconsistency could lead their target audience to confusion that may put consumer's trust towards the brand at risk. Purpose of this paper is to analyze visual identity issue experienced by Pempek Candy and to solve it by arranging a new visual identity. This practice uses Alina Wheeler's methodology and will be followed by doing a makeover of Pempek Candy's visual identity and application.
