Abstract

Jurnalisme siber adalah penyebaran berita melalui jaringan internet yang kecepatannya tinggi dan cakupannya luas. Namun, luasnya media ini menyebabkan penyebaran informasi di dalamnya tidak terkontrol. Masalah yang terjadi adalah kemunculan jurnalisme kuning. Media JPNN.com, media terverifikasi oleh dewan pers, menjadi sorotan Dewan Pers karena unggahan berita yang bersifat cabul. Kejadian ini menimbulkan pertanyaan, apakah JPNN.com menganut konsep jurnalisme kuning? Jurnalisme kuning pada media siber kerap kali dijadikan strategi untuk bisa unggul dalam persaingan portal dan menarik perhatian khalayak luas. Penelitian ini juga akan menggunakan teori pengharapan nilai. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode analisis isi dengan total populasi 4.179 berita yang diunggah selama bulan Mei 2022. Analisis isi dilakukan dengan instrumen lembar coding yang diisi oleh dua orang coder yang menilai 10 sampel berita yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil menunjukkan 9 dari 10 sampel berita dan 1 dari 3 indikator tampilan portal memenuhi konsep jurnalisme kuning. Khalayak secara aktif mencari dan mengkonsumsi berita yang disenangi, yaitu konten jurnalisme kuning. Di sisi lain, media menyediakannya dan mendapat keuntungan finansial berupa iklan dan sponsor. / Cyber journalism is the dissemination of news through the high-speed and extensive network of the internet. However, the vastness of this media leads to uncontrolled information spreading within it. The issue at hand is the emergence of sensationalist news, commonly known as "yellow journalism." JPNN.com, a media outlet verified by the press council, has come under scrutiny by the Press Council due to the publication of explicit news content. This incident raises questions about whether JPNN.com adheres to the concept of yellow journalism. Yellow journalism in cyber media is often employed as a strategy to excel in portal competition and attract the attention of a broad audience. This research will also utilize the expectancy-value theory. The study employs a quantitative approach with content analysis methodology, covering a total population of 4,179 news articles uploaded during May 2022. Content analysis is conducted using a coding sheet instrument filled out by two coders who evaluated 10 selected news samples using purposive sampling techniques. The results indicate that 9 out of 10 news samples and 1 out of 3 portal display indicators align with the concept of yellow journalism. The audience actively seeks and consumes favored news content, namely yellow journalism content. On the other hand, the media provides it and gains financial benefits through advertisements and sponsorships.
