Abstract

Manusia sebagai makluk sosial tentunya tidak lepas dari komunikasi. Proses komunikasi juga semakin dipermudah dengan adanya media sosial. Hingga saat ini semua kegiatan dan kehidupan manusia seperti disulap menjadi serba digital tentunya berdampak juga bagi etika komunikasi antar manusia. Dalam menggunakan media sosial tentunya ada etika komunikasi yang diperhatikan. Seperti media sosial Instagram yang hingga saat ini masih menjadi tempat masyarakat membagikan komentar menggunakan Abusive language yang ditujukan pada orang lain. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pendapat pro dan kontra dari mahasiswa UPH mengenai kasus Rebecca Klopper yang mendapatkan cacian, cemooh,dan Abusive language disosial media instagramnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan tenik pengambilan sample Judgmental sampling. Penggunakan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan e-questionaire pada 70 responden mahasiswa UPH Lippo Karawaci. Pengelolaan data dilakukan dengan metode analisis deskriptif statistik rentang skala. Dari hasil analisis data hasil rata rata/Mean untuk pendapat Kontra dari mahasiswa UPH sebesar 3,080 dan itu termasuk dalam kategori rendah. Sedangkan rata rata/Mean untuk pendapat Pro dari mahasiswa UPH sebesar 2,997. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, mayoritas mahasiswa UPH cenderung tidak setuju dengan pendapat pro netizen yang mendukung atau membenarkan perlakuan negatif terhadap Rebecca Klopper. / Humans as social beings are undoubtedly inseparable from communication. The communication process is also made easier with the advent of social media. In the present day, all human activities and lives have been transformed into a digital world, which certainly also has an impact on the ethics of communication between humans, when using social media, of course, there are communication ethics that need to be considered. For example, Instagram, which people share comments using abusive language directed at others. This study aims to find out how Pelita Harapan University students view the pros and cons of the Rebecca Klopper case, who received insults, ridicule, and abusive language on her Instagram social media. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with judgmental sampling, sampling technique. Data collection was conducted by distributing e-questionnaires to 70 UPH Lippo Karawaci student respondents. Data management was carried out using descriptive statictical analysis of scale ranges. The result of data analysis showed that the Mean for the contra opinion of UPH students was 3.080, which is classified as low. Meanwhile, the Mean for the pro opinion of UPH students wa 2.997. Based on the analysis, the majority of UPH tend to disagree with the pro opinion of netizens who support or justify negative treatment towards Rebecca Klopper.
