Abstract

Education is an essential human virtue, a necessity of society and basis of good life. As a part of human right, it means state must ensure that each individual of the society especially children receive a decent and proper quality education in order to have sufficient capabilities to enhance development. Focus on education captured in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations that adopted by all member countries, including Indonesia. Its fourth goal has an aim to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and as a part of United Nations, Indonesia committed to successfully implement this global goals. The research methodology used in this thesis is qualitative research method since this thesis will identify the interest of the government and UNICEF in education sector, the government and UNICEF efforts in as well as their cooperation in achieving quality education. Indonesia still facing numerous challenges in education sector even though the government already took action in improving the quality and increasing access to education. The presence of international organizations that focus on the issue of education and able to give assistance and guidance is largely needed, and UNICEF is one of the most active international organizations that focus on the implementation of SDGs related with children. Therefore in this research, it shows how UNICEF supports the government on making evidence, advocating for policies, strengthening systems for equitable access to education, improving learning outcomes, and developing skills for youth. The goal of UNICEF in Indonesia is to strengthen all component in Indonesia especially the government to the point that the presence of UNICEF is no longer needed./ Pendidikan adalah hal yang mendasar untuk manusia, merupakan bagian dari kebutuhan dan dasar dari hidup yang baik. Sebagai bagian dari hak asasi manusia, ini berarti negara harus memastikan bahwa setiap individu, terutama anak-anak, menerima pendidikan berkualitas yang layak agar kelak memiliki kemampuan yang memadai untuk meningkatkan pembangunan. Fokus pada bidang pendidikan dituangkan dalam Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) yang ditetapkan oleh Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa yang diadopsi oleh semua negara anggota, termasuk Indonesia. Sasaran nomor 4 dalam SDGs bertujuan untuk memastikan pendidikan berkualitas inklusif dan merata juga mempromosikan kesempatan belajar seumur hidup untuk semua individu. Sebagai bagian dari Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa, Indonesia berkomitmen untuk berhasil mengimplementasikan tujuan-tujuan global ini. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif karena skripsi akan mengidentifikasi minat pemerintah dan UNICEF di sektor pendidikan, upaya pemerintah dan UNICEF serta kerja sama kedua pihakdalam mencapai pendidikan yang berkualitas. Indonesia masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan di sektor pendidikan meskipun pemerintah telah melakukan upaya dalam meningkatkan kualitas dan meningkatkan akses ke pendidikan. Kehadiran organisasi internasional yang memiliki fokus pada masalah pendidikan dan mampu memberikan bantuan serta bimbingan sangat dibutuhkan, dan UNICEF merupakan salah satunya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian menunjukkan bagaimana UNICEF mendukung pemerintah dalam meneliti fakta-fakta, mengadvokasi kebijakan, memperkuat sistem untuk akses yang setara terhadap pendidikan, meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran, dan mengembangkan keterampilan untuk remaja. Tujuan UNICEF di Indonesia adalah untuk memperkuat semua komponen di Indonesia, terutama pemerintah, sehingga keberadaan UNICEF tidak lagi diperlukan.
