Abstract

Tanah gambut adalah tanah yang sering dihindari sebagai tanah dasar konstruksi karena memiliki daya dukung yang rendah dan penurunan besar. Akan tetapi jika berada dalam kondisi dimana lahan gambut tidak bisa dihindari dan akhirnya menjadi tanah dasar dari sebuah konstruksi, tanah gambut harus diperkuat untuk meningkatkan daya dukung agar bisa menjadi tanah dasar konstruksi. Salah satu cara memperkuat tanah adalah dengan menggunakan kolom batuan dan anyaman bambu. Penggunaan perkuatan kolom batuan dikarenakan kolom batuan dapat mengurangi penurunan dan mempercepat konsolidasi. Namun kolom batuan dengan sendirinya bisa mengalami deformasi lateral yang mengakibatkan penurunan tanah yang drastis, maka diperlukan pengekang kolom batuan untuk mencegah deformasi lateral. Pengekang yang biasa dipakai adalah material geosintetik, skan tetapi untuk penelitian ini menggunakan material bambu karena lebih ekonomis dari material geosintetik. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui uji di laboratorium. Tanah gambut dalam kondisi asli tanpa perkuatan diuji melalui pengujian kadar air, berat isi, UCT (Unconfined Compression Test), dan CBR (California Bearing Ratio) untuk mengetahui sifat asli dari tanah tersebut agar bisa dipakai untuk menjadi acuan. Peningkatan daya dukung tanah gambut akan terlihat melalui pengujian CBR dengan kombinasi perkuatan kolom batuan dan anyaman bambu arah vertikal dengan variasi panjang 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm, 25 cm dan 30 cm berdiameter 5 cm. Hasil dari uji CBR yang memakai perkuatan kombinasi kolom batuan dan anyaman bambu arah vertikal menunjukan peningkatan tapi belum memenuhi syarat nilai CBR minimum. Maka ditambahkan anyaman bambu arah horizontal di permukaan tanah dengan diameter 10 cm yang diletakkan pada permukaan dengan, untuk melanjutkan pengujian CBR. Kombinasi kolom batuan dengan anyaman bambu baik vertikal maupun horizontal menghasilkan nilai CBR sekitar 5% dan memenuhi syarat sebagai tanah dasar untuk pekerjaan jalan./Peat soil is soil that is often avoided as a subgrade for construction because it has low bearing capacity and high settlements. However, if there is a condition where peat soil cannot be avoided and eventually becomes the subgrade soil for construction, the peat soil must be reinforced in order to increase its bearing capacity so that it can be used to become the subgrade for construction. One way to reinforce the soil is by using stone columns and woven bamboo encasements. The use of stone columns as reinforcement is because stone columns can reduce settlement and speed up consolidation. However, stone columns by themselves can experience lateral deformation which results in drastic soil settlements, so stone columns encasement are needed to prevent lateral deformation. The encasements that are commonly used is geosynthetic materials, but for this research bamboo material was used because it is more economical than geosynthetic materials. This research was conducted through tests in the laboratory. Peat soil in its original condition without reinforcement undergoes tests for water content, unit weight, UCT (Unconfined Compression Test), and CBR (California Bearing Ratio) to determine the existing properties of the soil so that it can be used as a benchmark. An increase in the beaing capacity of peat soil will be seen through CBR testing with the use of stone columns and bamboo woven vertical encasements with varying lengths of 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm, 25 cm and 30 cm each with a diameter of 5 cm. The results of the CBR tests which used a combination of stone columns and bamboo woven vertical encasements showed an increase but did not meet the minimum CBR value requirements. Then a bamboo woven horizontal grid with a diameter of 10 cm was added to the ground surface to continue the CBR tests. The combination of stone columns and bamboo woven encasements, both vertical and horizontal, produces a CBR value of around 5% and meets the requirements as the subgrade for road work construction.
