Abstract

The digitalization era has brought many challenges and changes to the mass media industry, which in this context involves Indonesian women's lifestyle magazines. Mass communication media, such as women’s lifestyle magazines, continue to face declining revenues from both advertising and subscriptions. Despite the shift to online platforms, some magazines maintain a dual presence - both in print and digital. On the other hand, the majority of Indonesian people have switched to the internet and social media to consume media. Starting from this phenomenon, the researcher took this issue to find out the existence of Indonesian lifestyle magazines in the era of digitalization. This research used descriptive qualitative research methods which aim to provide a precise and accurate picture of the existing phenomena. Data collection was conducted through interviews with two Indonesian women's lifestyle magazines that still exist both online and in print. This research resulted in the finding that there is coexistence between print and digital formats of Indonesian women's lifestyle magazines. Although the possibility of the magazine's existence in print format remains open, especially without significant direction, readiness to transition completely to digital format is seen as an adaptation strategy that is needed amidst industry dynamics. Therefore, the existence of women's lifestyle magazines in this era of digitalization will not only focus on providing relevant and credible information, but also about creating deeper interactions, providing a comprehensive experience through its various formats and platforms, and maintaining the magazine's DNA to remain relevant and interesting to its readers.
