Abstract

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) plays a significant role in law enforcement. Ideally, law enforcement agencies should not be involved in criminal activities. However, in reality, there are numerous reports about Polri members engaging in criminal activities, and many cases involving Polri members go unpunished. This lack of accountability has led to a growing distrust of this institution within society. This study aims to explain how law enforcement is carried out for Polri members, who, as law enforcers, bear greater responsibilities than ordinary civilians. The research methodology used to address the research questions is as follows: 1. How does the police regulate law enforcement for members involved in criminal activities? 2. How is the implementation of the Polri professional code of ethics applied when handling members involved in criminal activities? The research method employed is a normative juridical legal study. The initial approach in this research is from a juridical perspective, treating the law as the main focus of inquiry. Legal problems under consideration are analyzed using legal sources. Two types of data sources are used in this legal research: primary data and secondary data. Primary legal sources include the Indonesian Republic National Police Law No. 2 of 2002. Secondary legal sources can be found in various materials such as books, journals, expert opinions, and more. The conclusion of this research is that the implementation of the Polri professional code of ethics violations can be carried out procedurally based on the provisions of the Chief of the National Police Regulation No. 2 of 2002 concerning the Polri Code of Ethics. In cases where members are involved in criminal activities, they follow the regular legal process before facing disciplinary sanctions or a Polri professional code of ethics hearing, led by the Office of Professionalism.
