Abstract

SWRO (Sea Water Reverse Osmosis) is known as one of the plants used to process raw sea water into fresh water in infrastructure in marine areas. The intake system (water intake facility) is one of the important components of the SWRO Plant. Choosing the right intake system will determine the magnitude of potential risks that can occur, the costs required, the time required and the construction method implemented. This research aims to determine the appropriate, effective and efficient intake construction method to be implemented in the Kijing Terminal Project. Data collection was carried out through literature studies, contract evaluations, preliminary design studies and detailed engineering designs, geomorphological and oceanographic data research on local seabed layers. From this data, it was found that the intake method based on the initial contract was Surface Water Intake (gravity) which had quite large potential risks both for the contractor, the work owner and the actual environmental conditions. From this data, several alternative intake methods were selected, one of which was an Intake Pump with a pile platform or hanger steel structure. Accumulative local water weather data collection is used to identify and mitigate potential risks, analyze unit prices for types and intake methods to obtain cost comparisons, as well as evaluate construction implementation schedules and resources to obtain time comparisons. The research results from comparing construction methods for Surface Water Intake and the application of the Intake Pump as the SWRO Plant intake system in the Kijing Terminal Project show a significant reduction in risk, cost efficiency of 70.3%, schedule effectiveness of 45.70% in all phases of work both phases work preparation, construction, to operation and maintenance, so that the Intake Pump construction method can be a reference for intake methods for the same or similar infrastructure projects in the future.
