Abstract

The LGBT+ community is a group of individual based on the identity of their sexual orientation and gender identity. Due to the queerness of the community that goes against heteronormativity, the group has suffered from social discrimination to criminalization by locals and government officials. Therefore, the LGBT+ communities have done several efforts in order to get a fair treatment and equal human rights, the movement came with sets of political demands and also effort to spread the awareness of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity. The movement started before 1970 but later being intensified through globalization. Due to the nature of both variables, this thesis would mainly stick to constructivism to develop a deeper understanding of both LGBT+ community and globalization. This research aim to look over the relation between the LGBT+ political movement and globalization, also the idea and knowledge they brought alongside the movement and advocacy. For the LGBT+ movement, globalization became means and tools that intensify the process within the dissemination of its movement, oftentimes through communication technology and online platform. In general the movement spread and increases the understanding of LGBT+ human rights, awareness based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, elimination of social discrimination and social inclusion.
