Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignancy in breast tissue derived from the ductal epithelium or lobules. The exact cause of breast cancer is believed to be multifactorial. Majority in Indonesia is late on detecting breast cancer that causes of high rates of mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study were to find out the differences in BMI values on breast cancer patients before and after menopause. The study design that used was cross-sectional. Number of samples that taken were 108 patients that were on surgical and surgical oncology clinics at Siloam General Hospital Lippo Karawaci. Statistical analysis was using comparative numerical analytical methods in pairs of two groups. The results were analyzed statistically using Mann-Whitney U. There were significant results between BMI values (p<0.05) in women who had breast cancer before and after menopause / Kanker payudara merupakan keganasan pada jaringan payudara yang berasal dari epitel duktus maupun lobulusnya. Penyebab kanker payudara dipercayai bersifat multifaktoral. Sebagian besar di Indonesia terlambat mendeteksi kanker payudara yang menyebabkan tingginya angka mortalitas dan morbiditas. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan nilai BMI pada wanita penderita kanker payudara sebelum dan sesudah menopause. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dengan desain potong-lintang. Sampel sejumlah 108 dari poli klinik bedah dan bedah onkologi di RSUS Lippo Karawaci. Analisa statistik menggunakan metode analisis komparatif numerik berpasangan 2 kelompok. Analisa statistik menggunakan metode uji Mann-Whitney U. Didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna (p<0.05) antara nilai BMI normal dengan berlebih pada wanita penderita kanker payudara sebelum dan sesudah menopause.
