Abstract

Music is a form of art consisting of a combination of sounds over a period of time. Various elements contained in each music will produce different genres of music. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a human physiological component that is calculated based on intervals from one heart rate to the next. Various factors, both internal and external, physiological conditions and pathogenesis, can affect changes in HRV. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of classical music on the difference in HRV in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University with an age range of 18-25 years. This study used an experimental study design on 61 students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pelita Harapan. Respondents were given informed consent before the study was conducted. All respondents were conditioned so that the conditions of the respondents were the same. Retrieval of HRV data is done using Polar H-10 devices that are looped parallel to the processus xiphoideus and Elite HRV app. Data is taken before and after listening to classical music for 5 minutes. Data tabulation was carried out with Microsoft Excel 2007 and data analysis was performed using SPSS 23.0. The result of this study is that classical music has an influence on changes in HRV. There were significant results on the HRV variables, including RMSSD(p = 0.005), SDNN (p = 0.01), PNN50 (p = 0.05), and HF (p = 0.01). This study shows that there is a decrease in HRV after listening to classical music. Classical music decrase heart parasympathetic activity / Musik merupakan salah satu bentuk kesenian yang terdiri dari kombinasi suara dalam suatu periode waktu. Berbagai elemen-elemen yang terkandung dalam setiap musik akan menghasilkan aliran musik yang berbeda. Heart Rate Variability (HRV) merupakan komponen fisiologis manusia yang dihitung berdasarkan interval dari satu denyut jantung ke denyut jantung setelahnya. Berbagai macam faktor, baik internal maupun eksternal, keadaan fisiologis maupun patogenesis, dapat mempengaruhi perubahan HRV. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh musik klasik terhadap perbedaan HRV pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan dengan rentang usia 18-25 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi eksperimental pada 61 orang responden mahasiswa/i Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Responden diberikan inform consent sebelum penelitian dilakukan. Seluruh responden dilakukan pengkondisian agar kondisi responden sama. Pengambilan data HRV dilakukan dengan mengunakan alat Polar H-10 yang dilingkarkan sejajar dengan processus xiphoideus dan aplikasi Elite HRV. Data diambil sebelum dan sesudah mendengarkan musik klasik selama 5 menit. Tabulasi data dilakukan dengan Microsoft Excel 2007 dan analisis data dilakukan menggunakan SPSS 23.0. Hasil penelitian ini adalah musik klasik memiliki pengaruh dalam perubahan HRV. Terdapat hasil signifikan pada variabel HRV RMSSD (p=0.005), SDNN (p=0.01), PNN50 (p=0.05), dan HF (p=0.01).
