Abstract

Problem solving, collaboration, and social skills are skills that are much needed in the 21st century. In the class where the researcher taught, it was found that there were still many students who had difficulty solving mathematical problems independently. In addition, with post-Covid 19 pandemic condition, students did not appear to have good collaboration skills during group activities in the classroom. Lack of social awareness, which is one of social skill aspects, could be one of the causes of students’ difficulty in collaborating. This research was a Classroom Action Research which aimed to see the improvement of mathematical problem solving skills, collaboration, and social awareness through the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) learning method in second grade students at XYZ Elementary School in West Jakarta. Observation, interview, and student reflection methods were used in data collection, coupled with mathematics tests to see the development of students’ mathematical problem solving abilities. There were three research cycles, and at the end of the cycles it was found that the TPS learning method could improve students’ mathematical problem solving abilities, collaboration, and social awareness with a moderate level of success. / Pemecahan masalah, kolaborasi, dan keterampilan sosial merupakan keterampilan yang sangat dibutuhkan di abad ke-21 ini. Di kelas tempat peneliti mengajar, ditemukan masih banyak siswa yang kesulitan dalam memecahkan masalah matematika secara mandiri. Ditambah lagi dengan kondisi pasca pandemi Covid 19, para siswa terlihat belum memiliki keterampilan kolaborasi yang baik saat aktivitas kelompok di dalam kelas. Kurangnya kesadaran sosial, yang merupakan salah satu aspek dari keterampilan sosial, dapat menjadi salah satu penyebab sulitnya siswa dalam berkolaborasi. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Khusus (PTK) yang bertujuan untuk melihat peningkatan keterampilan pemecahan masalah matematika, kolaborasi, dan kesadaran sosial melalui metode pembelajaran Think-Pair-Share (TPS) pada siswa kelas dua Sekolah Dasar XYZ di Jakarta Barat. Metode observasi, wawancara, dan refleksi siswa digunakan dalam pengumpulan data, ditambah dengan tes matematika untuk melihat perkembangan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika pada peserta didik. Terdapat tiga siklus penelitian, dan di akhir siklus ditemukan bahwa metode pembelajaran (TPS) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika, kolaborasi, dan kesadaran sosial siswa dengan tingkat keberhasilan sedang.
