Abstract

Latar belakang: Berat badan merupakan salah satu aspek yang sangat berkaitan dengan nyeri lutut dan merupakan faktor yang dapat menyebabkan timbulnya nyeri lutut. Hubungan antara obesitas dengan nyeri lutut pun dibuktikan dari suatu penelitian yang menjelaskan, dari orang tua tanpa nyeri lutut, mereka yang obesitas memiliki kemungkinan hampir tiga kali lebih besar untuk mengalami nyeri lutut dalam tiga tahun berikutnya dibandingkan dengan mereka yang memiliki IMT normal. Namun Sebagian besar penelitian hanya terfokus pada kelompok usia tua yang memiliki prevalensi nyeri lutut yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini peneliti ingin melakukan penelitian mengenai hubungan nyeri lutut dengan IMT pada Mahasiswa FK UPH. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan nyeri lutut pada mahasiswa FK UPH. Hipotesis Penelitian: Terdapat hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan nyeri lutut pada mahasiswa FK UPH. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan studi observasional dengan desain studi potong lintang (cross-sectional) dan menggunakan metode analitik komparatif kategorik tidak berpasangan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan nyeri lutut pada mahasiswa FK UPH. Hasil: Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh berlebih dengan nyeri lutut (p > 0.05). Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara indeks massa tubuh dengan nyeri lutut pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Kata Kunci: Nyeri lutut, Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) / Background: Weight is one aspect that is closely related to knee pain and is a factor that can cause knee pain. The relationship between obesity and knee pain was also proven from a study which explained, from older people without knee pain, those who are obese are almost three times more likely to experience knee pain in the following three years compared to those with normal BMI. However, most studies only focus on older age groups who have a high prevalence of knee pain. Therefore, in this study the researchers wanted to conduct research on the relationship between knee pain and BMI in UPH Faculty of Medicine students. Objectives: To determine whether there is a relationship between body mass index and knee pain in UPH FK students. Hypothesis: There is a relationship between body mass index and knee pain in UPH Faculty of Medicine students. Method: This study used an observational study with a cross-sectional study design and used an unpaired categorical comparative analytic method to determine the relationship between body mass index and knee pain in UPH FK students. Results: This study shows that there is no relationship between excess body mass index and knee pain (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between body mass index and knee pain in students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University.
