Abstract

Strategi diintegrasikan pada Pondok Ranji, Bintaro untuk rancangan berbasis multi-indra memiliki intensi untuk membentuk hubungan yang holistik antara manusia dan sekitarnya./ Human existence has long been intertwined with nature and its elements. Long before modernization and technology became apart of our daily life, our five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste) have served as the conduits through which we perceive and interact with the world around us. However, in today's digital era, we are increasingly disconnected from our environment. Our attention is often consumed by screens, dominated by all things digital leading to a diminished awareness of the world around us. This disconnection is especially evident among Generation Z, the generation “born to be digital”. Generation Z experiences a disconnect with their surroundings and may not fully appreciate the value of sensory experiences. Growing up in a digital world has led them to rely on technology as a substitute for their sensory perceptions. This disconnection impacts well-being through cognitive, affection, and psychomotor aspects. Recognizing this, this author proposes the design of a social space that is intended on rebuilding and reestablishing human sensory connections, especially for Generation Z, with their environment through three main aspects: humans with the world around them (nature), with each other, and of course, with their own self. The design of a multi-sensory social space that can serve as a third place for Generation Z is identified through research conducted through theoretical studies, precedent studies, and questionnaires. The research results were implemented into the design through activities, featuring programs to enhance specific sensory experiences based on questionnaire findings. Consequently, the design strategies applied include site design strategies, access and circulation strategies, space program and activity zoning strategies, building massing strategies, facade and opening strategies, interior planning strategies, and open space and green pattern planning strategies. Additionally, site identification (Pondok Ranji, Bintaro) was undertaken in hopes to restore the holistic relationship between humans and their environment.
