Abstract

History is a record of all events that occurred in the past. Studying history can be done from various sources, one of which is by visiting museums. Museums are places to store historical relics intended for educational, research and entertainment purposes. Therefore, museums have an important role in introducing and preserving history to the public. The Joang 45 Museum, which is located in the Central Jakarta area, is one of the museums that displays a collection of historical relics of Indonesian fighters in achieving independence. This museum, which was inaugurated in 1974, has become a means of education and recreation for the community. As time goes by, the Joang 45 Museum needs revitalization so that it can attract visitors, especially the younger generation, to come to the museum and become more relevant today. A narrative approach was used in designing the interior of the Joang 45 Museum to organize exhibition content and connect the storyline to be conveyed to visitors. The application of the narrative approach will divide the space into narrative stages from abstract to coda so that 9 large narratives are produced, namely: History of Gedung Joang 45, Figures and Events of Menteng 31, Proclamation of Indonesian Independence, Struggle to Defend the Republic of Indonesia, Period of Japanese Occupation, Process towards Indonesian Independence, The Struggle of the TRIP Army, the Period of Indonesian Government, and Figures of the Indonesian Struggle. Narratives that are systematically arranged can help visitors understand the history that the museum wants to convey and create an interesting spatial experience.
