Abstract

The Jakarta Fine Arts and Ceramics Museum building is one of the historical museums in Kota Tua. This building is a historic building built during the Dutch colonial period and inaugurated in 1870, which was originally used as the Office of the Council of Justice by the Dutch East Indies Government. In 1972 this building was inaugurated as one of the historic buildings used as the West Jakarta Mayor's Office. In 1990 this building was inaugurated and used as the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics. The Old City of Jakarta itself was originally a small city called the city of Batavia which eventually expanded and this area became the administrative center. In 1972, this area was inaugurated as a heritage site and the buildings surrounding the Old City were made into cultural heritage as well as historical museums, cafes, sales places, etc. where many local and foreign tourists gather and enjoy these historic buildings. This building is a historic building that cannot be changed or destroyed by existing walls, floors, roofs and facades. Therefore, the reconstruction designed by the author must preserve the existing buildings. The planning is aimed at rebuilding a museum whose interior has not been well maintained, so that it can be resurrected into a new museum but still contains the history of the museum and becomes a better tourist facility for visitors. The history that is in the planning is that the works of art displayed by the museum will be the core of this design and will have their own characteristics to become a means of communication for visiting visitors.
