Abstract

The high number of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one of the major health issues in Indonesia. Early skin-to-skin contact (SSC) is one of the efforts that can be done to overcome it. The implementation of early SSC is most often performed by medical staff, especially midwives. However, the coverage of early SSC is still practically low which may be caused by the lack of midwives’ knowledge. Therefore, it is important for the midwives to have a good knowledge on early SSC to improve practice in that particular field. This study aims to determine the influence of midwives knowledge on the implementation of early SSC. This is a cross-sectional retrospective study with total of 40 samples of private midwives practice in Tangerang regency. Data collected from January 2018 to March 2018. Data analysis was performed through regression correlative test for the correlation analysis. The level of midwives’ knowledge (89.81) and the implementation of early SSC (90.250%) in Tangerang regency, on average, is already high. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between knowledge and implementation of early SSC (p value= 0.001 and r=0.483). In conclusion, the higher the knowledge of midwives on early SSC, the higher the implementation of it / Angka Kematian Bayi dan Ibu yang tinggi merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan yang utama di Indonesia. Inisiasi Menyusu Dini (IMD) merupakan salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Pelaksanaan IMD paling banyak dilakukan oleh tenaga kesehatan, khususnya bidan. Namun, cakupan IMD pada praktiknya masih rendah yang diperkirakan karena kurangnya pengetahuan bidan akan IMD. Maka dari itu, diperlukan pengetahuan bidan yang baik mengenai IMD untuk dapat meningkatkan cakupan pelaksanaan IMD. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan bidan terhadap persentase pelaksanaan IMD. Penelitian ini merupakan studi potong lintang retrospektif dengan besar sampel 40 yaitu bidan yang melakukan praktik di Bidan Praktek Swasta di Kabupaten Tangerang. Pengambilan data akan dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari 2018 hingga Maret 2018. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji korelasi regresi untuk analisis korelasi. Rata-rata bidan di kabupaten Tangerang memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang tinggi (89.81) dan tingkat pelaksanaan IMD pun juga tinggi (90.25%). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pengetahuan mengenai IMD dan pelaksanaan IMD di kabupaten Tangerang (p value = 0.001 dan r = 0.483). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu semakin tinggi pengetahuan bidan mengenai IMD maka persentase pelaksanaan IMD pun akan meningkat.
