Abstract

Dalam proses mendesain sebuah rancangan interior, semua desainer pastinya memiliki pegangan dalam dirinya sendiri yang merupakan hasil dari pengaruh dari berbagai aspek di dalam kehidupannya. Pegangan ini sering kali disebut sebagai sebuah prinsip desain dan kombinasi prinsip desain pada setiap desainer mungkin akan berbeda. Perbedaan ini yang nantinya juga akan menjadi alasan bagaimana semua hasil akhir desain dapat berbeda antar desainer. Walaupun berbeda, tetapi semua hasil akhir desain akan dapat dikatakan ideal sesuai dengan desainer tersebut. Jika dikaitkan dengan firma desain interior maka sering kali prinsip desain yang dipegang merupakan kombinasi dari prinsip desain dari principal dan para pekerja didalamnya yang nantinya akan menghasilkan desain yang ideal menurut firma desain tersebut. Hal ini juga terjadi pada salah satu firma desain interior yang terletak di Jakarta Selatan yaitu Vivianne Faye Interior (selanjutnya akan disebut VF). Terdapat beberapa prinsip desain yang dapat terlihat pada semua proyek yang telah dikerjakan oleh VF yaitu antara lain sense of balance, personal touch, form follows function, material juxtapositions, dan geometris & organik. Prinsip-prinsip desain ini yang akan menghasilkan hasil desain yang ideal menurut VF yang mencangkup beberapa aspek yaitu fungsional, ‘curated’ rather than ‘decorated’, innovative, client-centered, dan modern but respectful to the past. Dalam penelitian, penulis akan menggunakan metode pengumpulan data dalam bentuk observasi dan wawancara yang dituangkan ke dalam fieldnotes. Kemudian data tersebut akan penulis olah dan analisa menggunakan pendekatan interpretatif dan dibantu dengan metode studi kasus kolektif. Melalui data dan analisis yang dilakukan, penulis memiliki tujuan untuk melihat bagaimana prinsip desain yang dipegang oleh VF nantinya dapat menghasilkan desain yang ideal menurut VF juga. / In the process of designing an interior, all designers would have a guiding principle within themselves which is a result of numerous influences from various aspects of their lives. These guidelines are often referred to as design principles and the combination of design principles for each designer may be different. This difference will also be the reason why the end result of the design may differ between designers. Although different, but all the final results of the design can be said to be ideal according to each designer's standard. When it comes to interior design firms, it is often the case that the design principles upheld by the firm are a combination of the design principles of the principal and the workers in it which will produce an ideal design according to the design firm. This is also happen to one of the interior design firm located in South Jakarta, Vivianne Faye Interior (hereinafter referred to as VF). There are several design principles that can be seen in all the projects that have been done by VF, including a sense of balance, personal touch, form follows function, material juxtapositions, and geometric & organic. These design principles will produce ideal design results based on VF's standard which covers several aspects, namely functional, 'curated' rather than 'decorated', innovative, client-centered, and modern but respectful to the past. In the research, the author will use data gathering in the form of observations and interviews that are written into fieldnotes. Then the data will be processed and analyzed using an interpretative approach and supported by collective study cases method. Through the data and analysis, the author aims to see how the design principles that are held by VF can later on create an ideal design according to VF as well.
