Abstract

Chronic ankle instability is one of the most musculoskeletal diseases that affect young adults. In Indonesia, prevalence of chronic ankle instability rise over the years. A complication that is quite an impact is the one that limits individuals to move normally because of the pain in his legs. The main purpose of this research is to find the impact of chronic ankle instability on quality of life of UPH Faculty of Medicine students. The sample of this research is 72 medical students of UPH. The research start from January to May 2018. Research study using Mann-Whitney study. There is significant relationship between chronic ankle instability with quality of life (p<0.005), significant relationship between body mass index with chronic ankle instability (p=0.001), significant relationship between gender with chronic ankle instability (p=0.003), but there’s no significant relationship between limb dominance with quality of life (p=1,000) / Instabilitas pergelangan kaki kronis (chronic ankle instability) merupakan salah satu penyakit muskoloskeletal yang paling sering terjadi di kalangan dewasa muda. Di Indonesia CAI itu sendiri memiliki prevalensi yang makin lama meningkat. Komplikasi yang cukup berdampak adalah adanya keterbatasan individu untuk beraktivitas secara normal karena rasa nyeri terhadap kakinya. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh instabilitas pergelangan kaki kronis terhadap kualitas hidup mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 72 orang mahasiswa pre-klinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Januari hingga Mei 2018. Pengolahan data menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara instabilitas pergelangan kaki kronis dengan kualitas hidup (p<0.005), BMI memiliki hubungan dengan instabilitas pergelangan kaki kronis (p=0.001), jenis kelamin memiliki hubungan dengan instabilitas pergelangan kaki kronis (p=0.003), namun tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kaki dominan dengan instabilitas pergelangan kaki kronis (p= 1,000).
