Abstract

Platform merupakan suatu firma desain arsitektur yang berlokasi di Jakarta Barat, didirikan pada tahun 2013 oleh Hendra Irwanto (HI) seorang arsitek lulusan Universitas Tarumanegara Jakarta. Dalam mengerjakan suatu proyek desain, Platform akan menyelesaikan gambar desain dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu tahap initial meeting yang dilakukan oleh HI selaku Principal dari Platform dengan klien, kemudian tahap pembuatan konsep, preliminary, design development, dan gambar konstruksi. Proyek yang dikerjakan oleh Platform cukup bervariasi, dari sektor commercial, hingga residential, namun untuk saat ini proyek yang mendominasi pekerjaan di Platform hingga saat ini adalah proyek residential. Selama beberapa tahun Platform sudah mengembangkan beberapa pendekatan desain yang digunakan oleh Platform untuk mencapai desain rumah tinggal yang ideal. Pendekatan ini mencakup client centered, sense of arrival, permainan volume dan skala, integrasi indoor outdoor, healthy space, private space, dan desain yang ramah pemeliharaan. Namun dalam prosesnya tentunya juga perlu dilakukan penyesuaian dan strategi agar pendekatan-pendekatan desain tersebut, dapat berkontribusi terhadap hasil desain yang ideal, berdasarkan ketepatannya pada waktu, fungsi, dan anggaran. Berdasarkan hal tersebut penulis akan meneliti bagaimana Platform berstrategi dalam proses desain dengan melakukan penelitian etnografi untuk pengumpulan data. Penulis terlibat secara langsung dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, kemudian penulis juga menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus untuk meneliti lebih dalam perihal bagaimana Platform berstrategi untuk menghasilkan desain yang ideal, sehingga akhirnya penulis dapat menyimpulkan hal tersebut. / Platform is an architectural design firm located in West Jakarta, founded in 2013 by Hendra Irwanto (HI), a graduate of Tarumanegara University Jakarta. In carrying out a design project, Platform completes the design drawings through several stages. These stages include the initial meeting phase conducted by HI as the Principal of Platform with the client, followed by the conceptualization, preliminary, design development, and construction drawing phases. The projects undertaken by Platform are quite diverse, ranging from the commercial sector to residential areas. However, at present, residential projects dominate Platform's workload. Over the years, Platform has developed several design approaches used to achieve an ideal residential design. These approaches include a client-centered approach, a sense of arrival, play of volume and scale, integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, creating healthy spaces, designing private spaces, and maintenance friendly designs. Throughout the process, adjustments are necessary based on the constraints present in the project, requiring strategies to apply these design approaches to overcome challenges that arise during the design process. Based on these considerations, the researcher will investigate how Platform strategically approaches this by conducting ethnographic research for data collection. The researcher will be directly involved in daily life, utilizing a case study approach to delve deeper into how Platform strategizes to produce ideal designs. This will allow the author to draw conclusions based on the findings.
