Abstract

The image of cultural heritage site has a static concept that embody a special characteristics in order to represent historical values and identity. However, space of an area is also progressive figured by its residents. As happened in the context of Betawi Condet Cultural Heritage, their development direction is experiencing a significant changes that considered to be contrary to the its values, and so that this area seems to have lost its Place Identity. Therefore, this study aims to find out what aspects are substantial for the formation of its identity to determine posibilitiy of an ideal revitalization strategy. It is known through the study of literature that there are 7 factors that affect Place Identity, namely Continuity, Familiarity, Attachment, Commitment, External Evaluation, Security and Control, and Aesthetic Needs. Through the elaboration of the factors of Place Identity in the Betawi Cultural Heritage area and precedent studies, architectural consequences for preservation efforts were found concentrated in 4 categories, (1) settlement patterns, (2) figures of traditional houses, (3) functions and supporting programs, (4) special value development. Research on the object of study was carried out qualitatively with data collection techniques of observation and interviews, the results showed that Betawi Condet ethnic community in Kampung Astawana (Betawi Condet Cultural Heritage) still had several Place Identity factors related to ancestral stories, attachment and commitment to the land of birth, and still undergoing few cultural activities. However, settlement patterns and traditional house figures are no longer able to be defined as cultural heritage area. So that the revitalization strategy adopted is to renovate a residential area to reflect its traditional settlement pattern, bring back traditional house figure (emphasizing the shape of the roof, using window blinds, and ornamentation), facilitating cultural activities, and developing special values towards industrial and economy aspects. / Citra kawasan pada cagar budaya sejatinya memiliki konsep yang statis dan memiliki ciri khusus yang mewakili nilai sejarah untuk disebut sebagai identitasnya. Namun, ruang suatu kawasan juga bersifat progresif. Seperti yang terjadi pada konteks Cagar Budaya Betawi Condet, arah perkembangan ruang kawasan ini dinilai bertentangan dengan nilai-nilai yang seharusnya dimiliki. Sampai sekarang, kondisi fisik kawasan masih mengalami perubahan yang signifikan dari karakter aslinya, sehingga kawasan ini seolah-olah sudah kehilangan Identitas Tempat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aspek apa saja yang substansial bagi pembentukan identitasnya agar dapat menentukan posibilitas strategi revitalisasi. Diketahui melalui studi literatur bahwa terdapat 7 faktor yang mempengaruhi Identitas Tempat, yaitu Continuity, Familiarity, Attachment, Commitment, External Evaluation, Security and Control, dan Aesthetic Needs. Melalui penjabaran faktorfaktor Identitas Tempat tersebut pada kawasan Cagar Budaya Betawi dan pembelajaran studi preseden, maka ditemukan konsekuensi arsitektural bagi upaya perbaikan, yaitu terkonsentrasi pada 4 kategori, (1) pola permukiman, (2) figur rumah tradisional, (3) fungsi dan program pendukung, (4) pengembangan nilai khusus. Penelitian pada objek studi dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi dan wawancara, hasilnya menunjukan bahwa masyarakat etnis Betawi Condet pada kawasan Kampung Astawana, Cagar Budaya Betawi Condet masih memiliki beberapa faktor Identitas Tempat terkait dengan cerita leluhur, keterikatan dan komitmen dengan tanah kelahiran, dan masih menjalani aktivitas budaya. Namun demikian, pola permukiman dan figur rumah tradisional sudah tidak dapat mendefinisikan kawasan cagar budaya. Didapati bahwa strategi revitalisasi yang cocok untuk diterapkan adalah dengan merenovasi kawasan permukiman untuk dapat memimik pola permukiman tradisional, membawa kembali elemen-elemen arsitektur rumah tradisional (menegaskan bentuk atap, menggunakan jendela krepyak, dan ornamentasi), memfasilitasi aktivitas kebudayaan, dan mengembangkan nilai khusus kearah aspek industri dan ekonomi.
