Abstract

This thesis discusses about the implementation of a web-based application that is applied in Lentera Harapan School. The most important goal of this thesis is to help Lentera Harapan school to promote, to ease, and to increase the number of foster parent participants. The primary function of this application is to assists the administration of foster parent program, such as recording, searching, and data managing. It is also help the administrator to send confirmation, validation, even birthday greeting card automatically by e-mail. The making of this web based application started at the end of January 2010 and ended at the beginning of July 2010. Initially, The development of this application is based on evolutionary methodology which includes planning, analyzing with UML 2.0, MySQL as the database design, application design with PHP as the programming language, and implementation application for an information technology (IT). After the analysis, comes the design which main purpose is to decide how the system will operate in terms of hardware and software. Also, the database structure and the user interface for the new foster parent application is designed in this phase. The implementation plan includes the planning of how the new application would be launched, the implementation schedule, the installation plan and testing period. At the end the application is directly used. In conclusion, the web based application is believed to be useful and of course needs further development in the future. The writer believes this application will increase the operational activity significantly. The analysis and design of the new application was done thoroughly including the application form and function as well as its base structures.
