Abstract

A Chatbot is a computer program designed to simulate conversation with human users over the internet. Chatbots are generally used for various purposes, such as providing information, answering questions, or in customer service. This thesis aims to understand the influence of Avatar, Artificial Intelligence, Trust, and Anthropomorphism, and to identify the factors that can affect information sharing with chatbots. The data collection methods used for this process are surveys and literature studies. An Experimental Design method is used to conduct manipulation treatments. A 2x2 factorial design is employed, filled with comparisons (high and low) for the manipulated data process. Then, a Chatbot with different capabilities and designs is loaded into a simple website that has been created, tested, and compared. This thesis finds that a good Avatar has a higher influence on the encouragement to share information and use the chatbot. Secondly, advanced and sophisticated Artificial Intelligence will have an impact on increasing the encouragement to share information and use the chatbot. Thirdly, utilizing Anthropomorphism has a positive influence on the encouragement provided by Avatar and Artificial Intelligence. Fourthly, supported by Trust, it can enhance the effects of Artificial Intelligence and Avatar and influence the Chatbot itself. Additionally, this thesis can provide new insights or thoughts for individuals in the process of designing Chatbots to maximize the benefits of Chatbots and encourage respondents to use and share information with Chatbots.
