Abstract

New Colombo Plan merupakan inisiatif pemerintah Australia yang berfokus pada mobilitas pelajar dan diplomasi publik. Seiring berjalannya waktu keterlibatan di kawasan Asia-Pasifik menjadi sangat penting bagi Australia mengingat posisi nya yang bersebelahan dengan kawasan tersebut. Letak geografis mengharuskan Australia untuk terlibat secara regional dengan negara-negara yang ada di kawasan Asia-Pasifik, guna untuk mencapai kepentingan nasionalnya. Kebijakan luar negeri New Colombo Plan melalui beasiswa dan mobilitas ke kawasan Asia-Pasifik menjadi signifikansi dalam penelitian ini yaitu, bagaimana program ini mendukung kepentingan nasional Australia di kawasan tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Teori liberalisme dan konsep kerja sama internasional, kebijakan luar negeri, diplomasi publik, diplomasi people-to-people, dan soft power digunakan sebagai landasan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa New Colombo Plan mendukung kepentingan nasional Australia dengan memperkuat hubungan regional, mempererat hubungan dengan negara dengan negara-negara di kawasan. Hubungan erat yang tercipta melalui New Colombo Plan memberikan implikasi positif baik bagi masyarakat Australia maupun kawasan, dalam mempererat relasi dan kerja sama yang efektif di berbagai bidang, di kawasan Asia-Pasifik. / The New Colombo Plan is an Australian government initiative focused on student mobility and public diplomacy. Over time, engagement in the Asia-Pacific region has become crucial for Australia due to its proximity to this region. The geographical location necessitates Australia to engage regionally with countries in the Asia-Pacific to achieve its national interests. The New Colombo Plan's foreign policy through scholarships and mobility to the Asia-Pacific region is significant in this study, specifically how this program supports Australia's national interests in the region. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods. Theories of liberalism and concepts of international cooperation, foreign policy, public diplomacy, people-to-people diplomacy, and soft power are used as the foundation of this research. This study finds that the New Colombo Plan supports Australia's national interests by strengthening regional relations and deepening ties with countries in the region. The close relationships fostered through the New Colombo Plan have positive implications for both the Australian public and the region, strengthening effective relations and cooperation in various fields in the Asia-Pacific.
