Abstract

The Trade War that took place between America and China has yet to find a middle ground. It began when the US issued a policy that harmed China and China responded to the actions taken by America by providing fees for US exports. In response to this trade war, the author aims to find out what interests both the US and China have behind the occurrence of this trade war and the implications in what fields occur in the US after the occurrence of a trade war between the two countries with great economic power. The author uses a qualitative approach in conducting this research using descriptive research methods. In its framework, the authors use the concepts of International Trade, Protectionism and Retaliation. The results showed that America itself was also affected by the policies it issued, namely a increase in the deficit in the trade balance, a decline in investment, and finally a decline in agriculture. / Perang Dagang yang terjadi antara Amerika dan Cina hingga dewasa ini belum menemukan titik tengahnya. Diawali ketika Amerika mengeluarkan kebijakan yang merugikan Cina, dan Cina membalas tindakan yang dilakukan oleh Amerika tersebut dengan memberikan biaya terhadap Ekspor AS. Dalam menanggapi perang dagang ini, penulis bertujuan untuk mencari apa yang menjadi kepentingan AS maupun Cina dibalik terjadinya perang dagang kedua negara tersebut dan implikasi dalam bidang apa saja yang terjadi di AS pasca terjadinya perang dagang diantara kedua negara dengan kekuatan ekonomi yang besar. Penulis menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif adapun dalam melakukan penelitian ini dengan menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif. Dalam kerangka pemikirannya, penulis menggunakan konsep Perdagangan Internasional, Proteksionisme dan Retaliasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Amerika sendiri juga terkena dampak dari kebijakan yang dikeluarkan olehnya, yaitu terjadinya peningkatan defisit pada neraca perdagangan, menurunnya investasi, dan yang terakhir terjadinya penurunan dalam bidang pertanian.
