Abstract

This research aims to explore the bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the Philippines in countering the transnational terrorist threat posed by the Abu Sayyaf. Through qualitative research method and a descriptive research methodology, the research addresses two primary research questions: “What are the forms of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the Philippines in countering Abu Sayyaf’s transnational terrorism”, and “What are the results and how is the implementation of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the Philippines in countering Abu Sayyaf’s transnational terrorism”. The findings of this research have revealed various measures taken by both countries, such as intelligence sharing, coordinated maritime patrols, and joint military exercises, which have contributed to the disruption of Abu Sayyaf’s operations. This study highlights the importance of such bilateral cooperation in enhancing regional security and stability, while also providing a comprehensive understanding of the collaborative dynamics between Indonesia and the Philippines in counterterrorism.
