Abstract

Indonesia has been known for its abundance in marine resources and its geographical advantage over other countries, being one of the largest archipelagic state in the world. Indonesia, however, have been facing a problem with marine plastic debris, a problem that some parts of the world have been facing as well. The UN Development Programme created Sustainable Development Goals in response towards the rising concern of worldly issues. One SDG included is Life Below Water, which aims to increase the sustainability of marine resources and ecosystem of the ocean. The research method used in this is both descriptive and exploratory, with qualitative approach. To collect the information, thenn collected secondary data. In doing so, the author browsed the internet and libraries for relevant journals and books which are relevant to my thesis. Only the most valid and reliable data will be used in this research. The result of this research can be concluded from the answer of the research questions. The answer to the answer of the research questions will correlate with each other and form a final conclusion as to what challenges actors are facing in marine plastic pollution and what the solutions are. The answer to the challenges presented on the actors in implementing SDG 14 will be derived from the answers as to what the motives are for Indonesia in implementing SDG as well as relying on the backlash and advantages of having such motives in implementing the actions of SDG.
