Abstract
Parenting style is an important factor to shape children’s independency and creativity. One of parenting styles which can support or inhibit the independency and creativity of children is authoritative parenting style. Former study found that parents of children aged 5 to 6 years old at SKCC Kindergarten Bogor, applied authoritative parenting style. The researcher predicts that there is a correlation between parenting style and children’s independency and creativity, especially at the age of 5 to 6 years old at SKCC Kindergarten Bogor. Respondents consisted of 46 parents from all children aged 5 to 6 years old at SKCC Kindergarten Bogor. The study was conducted to know the authoritative parenting style by parents of children aged 5 to 6 years old. Another purpose of this study is to know whether there is a correlation between authoritative parenting style and children’s independency and a correlation between authoritative parenting style and children’s creativity. The study was using mixed method. The research finding shows that there is a strong correlation between authoritative parenting style and children’s independency (0,611). A strong correlation also exists in the relationship between authoritative parenting style and children’s creativity (0,539). The research findings indicate that authoritative parenting style can shape children's independency and creativity. / Pola asuh orangtua menjadi faktor penting guna membentuk kemandirian serta kreativitas anak. Salah satu bentuk pola asuh orangtua yang dapat mendukung kemandirian serta kreativitas anak adalah otoritatif. Pada penelitian awal, diketahui bahwa orangtua dari anak-anak berusia 5 sampai 6 tahun di TK SKCC Bogor, menerapkan pola asuh otoritatif. Peneliti menduga ada hubungan antara pola asuh orangtua yang otoritatif dengan kemandirian dan kreativitas anak, secara khusus pada usia 5 sampai 6 tahun, di TK SKCC Bogor. Responden terdiri atas 46 orangtua dari keseluruhan anak berusia 5 sampai 6 tahun di TK SKCC, Bogor. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan mengetahui penerapan pola asuh otoritatif oleh orangtua dari anak-anak berusia 5 sampai 6 tahun. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara pola asuh otoritatif dan kemandirian anak, serta hubungan antara pola asuh otoritatif dan kreativitas anak. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode campuran, yaitu kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang cukup kuat antara pola asuh otoritatif dan kemandirian yaitu sebesar 0,611. Hubungan yang cukup kuat juga terdapat pada hubungan antara pola asuh otoritatif dengan kreativitas, yaitu sebesar 0,539. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh otoritatif mempunyai hubungan dengan kemandirian dan kreativitas anak.
