Abstract

Teknologi yang semakin canggih telah memberi pengaruh besar pada berbagai aspek kehidupan manusia, termasuk dalam bidang komunikasi. Distribusi informasi dan pesan saat ini menjadi lebih mudah dan praktis karena kehadiran media baru yaitu internet. Fenomena ini membuat masyarakat lebih memilih untuk mendapatkan informasi secara online daripada lewat media konvensional. Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi ini menyebabkan banyak lahirnya portal berita online di Indonesia. MerahPutih.com merupakan salah satu portal berita online di Indonesia yang menyajikan hard news dan berita feature. Berita feature yang dipublikasi oleh MerahPutih.com menggunakan berbagai proses penulisan dan peliputan mulai dari penugasan, pencarian data, seleksi, dan penulisan, penyuntingan, sampai tahap publikasi. Dari hasil magang yang telah dilaksanakan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses penulisan dan peliputan berita feature di MerahPutih.com sangat relevan dengan lima lapisan keputusan dalam menulis berita menurut Ronald Buel yang meliputi penugasan, pengumpulan data, evaluasi, penulisan, dan penyuntingan. / The cutting-edge technology has a major influence on various aspects of human life, including the field of communication. The distribution of information and messages are now easier and practical because of the new media as called as the internet. This phenomenon makes people prefer to get information by online rather than through conventional media. This led to the birth of many online news portals in Indonesia. MerahPutih.com is one of the online media portal in Indonesia that presents hard news and feature. News feature published by MerahPutih.com uses various writing and coverage processes raging from assignment, data searching, selection, writing, editing, to the publication stage. From the results of the internship, it can be concluded that the writing and coverage process of news feature at MerahPutih.com is very relevant to the five layers of decision in writing news according to Ronald Buel which includes assignment, data collection, evaluation, writing, and editing.
