Abstract

Film merupakan salah satu media massa yang memiliki pesan kepada penontonnya. Tidak sedikit film yang menceritakan kisah hidup tokoh terkenal. Salah satu film yang mengangkat kisah hidup tokoh berpengaruh adalah film Mary, Queen of Scots. Film ini menceritakan tentang kisah kehidupan dua orang ratu dan bagaimana mereka memiliki kekuasaan pada kerajaan Skotlandia dan Inggris pada abad ke-16 yang dominasi laki-laki. Penelitian ini akan meneliti bagaimana representasi kekuasaan perempuan pada film Mary, Queen of Scots dengan menganalisa adegan-adegan yang menggambarkan kekuasaan perempuan yang ada pada film dan melihat unsur semiotik dari film kemudian mengaitkannya dengan teori yang berkaitan. Penelitian ini akan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian semiotik. Peneliti mendapatkan data dengan dokumentasi dari potongan adegan yang ada di film dan studi pustaka./Film is one of the mass media that conveys a message to the audience. There are films that are based on famous or important figures’ lifes. One of it is Mary, Queen of Scots. The film is about the lives of two queens and how they have power in the kingdoms of Scotland and England in the 16th century in a male-dominated environment. This study will analyze how the representation of women's power in the film Mary, Queen of Scots by analyzing the scenes that illustrate the power of women in the film and analyzing the semiotic elements of the film and relate it to related theories. This research will use a qualitative approach with a semiotic research method. Researchers obtain data by documenting pieces of scenes in films and literature studies.
