Abstract

Kontes kecantikan adalah suatu kontes yang memiliki fokus terhadap keindahan fisik para pesertanya, walaupun memang dalam penyelenggaraannya, kontes kecantikan juga melihat dan menilai aspek lain seperti kepribadian finalis, bakat, wawasan dan kemampuan bicara di depan publik. Putri Pariwisata Indonesia adalah salah satu kontes kecantikan yang berada di Indonesia dan memiliki fokus untuk mempromosikan objek wisata yang di Indonesia. Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana kontes Putri Pariwisata Indonesia berperan dalam membentuk konsep diri para finalis Putri Pariwisata Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini dilakukan dengan wawancara dengan para finalis Putri Pariwisata Indonesia dan dengan pihak penyelenggara Putri Pariwisata Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep diri finalis Putri Pariwisata Indonesia terjadi karena finalis Putri Pariwisata Indonesia dituntut untuk memenuhi kriteria yang sudah ditentukan oleh pihak penyelenggara dan untuk memenuhi ekspetasi citra seorang Putri Pariwisata Indonesia di mata masyarakat. / Beauty contest is a contest that focused on the physical beauty of the participants, although in its implementation, the beauty contest also sees and evaluates other aspects such as the finalist's personality, talents, insight and public speaking ability. Putri Pariwisata Indonesia is one of the beauty contests in Indonesia and has a focus on promoting tourist attractions in Indonesia. This study discusses how the Putri Pariwisata Indonesia played a role in shaping the self concept of the finalists of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach and descriptive qualitative method. The data has been collected through interviews with the finalists of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia and with the organizers of Putri Wisata Indonesia. The results showed that the self concept of the finalists of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia was shaped because the finalists of Putri Pariwisata Indonesia were required to meet the criteria set by the organizers and to fulfill the expectations of the image of a Putri Pariwisata Indonesia in the eyes of the public.
