Abstract

Karya sastra di Indonesia semakin berkembang pesat. Perkembangan karya sastra lama menjadi baru berpengaruh juga dari perkembangan zaman. Seiring perkembangan zaman, bentuk-bentuk dan isi dari karya sastra menjadi lebih modern. Perkembangan pada karya sastra juga dapat dilihat dari cara seseorang menikmatinya. Dari latar belakang diatas penulis akan membuat alternatif lain untuk menikmati karya sastra fiksi novel Refrain melalui media ilustrasi. Untuk menghasilkan ilustrasi yang diambil dari isi cerita novel, diperlukan metode-metode untuk mempermudah proses pembuatan ilustrasi tersebut. Seperti penggunaan teori-teori yang membantu dalam pemilihan scene yang tepat untuk ditampilkan dalam bentuk ilustrasi serta pemilihan warna yang sesuai dengan suasana yang yang diciptakan dari isi cerita novel tersebut. Melalui ilmu Desain Komunikasi Visual perancangan ilustrasi cerita dari novel Refrain dapat menghasilkan sebuah karya atau gambar ilustrasi yang bisa merepresentasikan isi cerita dari novel tersebut, sehingga ilustrasi dapat membantu memvisualisasikan cerita maupun situasi dari novel tanpa mengurangi ciri khas dari novel tersebut./Literary works in Indonesia are growing rapidly. The development of old literary works became influential also from the times. Along with the times, the forms and contents of literary works become more modern. The development of literary works can also be seen from the way someone enjoyed it. From the above background, the writer will make another alternative to enjoy Refrain's fiction literary works through illustration media. To produce illustrations drawn from the contents of novel stories, methods are needed to simplify the process of making these illustrations. Like the use of theories that help in choosing the right scene to be displayed in the form of illustrations and color selection in accordance with the atmosphere created from the contents of the novel's story. Through the science of Visual Communication Design the design of illustrated stories from Refrain novels can produce a work or illustrated images that can represent the contents of the story of the novel, so that illustrations can help visualize the story or situation of the novel without reducing the characteristics of the novel.
