Abstract

Background: Decline in cognitive function and anxiety are burden of society that affect patients and their families. Anxiety can cause cognitive impairment which can reduce the cognitive score especially reduction in orientation. Cognitive impairment can also result from advancing of age even though the process has not been well understood. Objective: Obtain differences in the mean value of cognitive function in respondents who do not experience anxiety and who experience anxiety in the age group 18-25 years. Get the prevalence of anxiety. Methods: This study was done using cross-sectional design on 56 students of Faculty Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan. Data collection was done using DASS-21 and MoCA questionnaires. Obtained data was tabulated using Microsoft Excel 2013 and analyzed using T-test as statistic hypothesis testing method. Result: There is no significant differences of mean between students who are nonanxious or anxious about cognitive functions (MoCA) with the average mean of student who was not anxious and anxious in sequence was 26.77; 26.46 and P value 0.482 for total cognitive value (MoCA). Conclusion: From 56 student of Faculty Medicine Universitas Pelita Harapan, 26 or 46% of the students have anxiety and after bivariate analysis, there was no significant differences in the mean value of cognitive function on respondents who did not experience anxiety with those who experienced anxiety / Latar Belakang: Penurunan fungsi kognitif dan kecemasan merupakan suatu beban bagi masyarakat baik penderita maupun keluarga. Kecemasan dapat menyebabkan penurunan nilai fungsi kognitif terutama terjadi penurunan pada skor orientasi, nilai fungsi kognitif yang lebih rendah juga terpengaruh oleh peningkatan usia meskipun proses terjadinya masih belum dimengerti sepenuhnya. Tujuan Penelitian: Mendapatkan perbedaan nilai rerata fungsi kognitif pada responden yang tidak mengalami kecemasan dan yang mengalami kecemasan pada kelompok umur 18-25 tahun. Mendapatkan prevalensi kecemasan. Metode Penelitian: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain potong lintang kepada 56 mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengisian kuesioner DASS-21 dan MoCA. Data ditabulasikan pada Microsoft Excel 2013, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan program analisis statistik yang umum dipakai. Penelitian ini menggunakan uji statistik T test untuk analisis bivariat. Hasil: Tidak ditemukan perbedaan nilai rerata signifikan antara mahasiswa yang cemas maupun tidak cemas terhadap nilai fungsi kognitif (MoCA) dengan rata-rata nilai fungsi kognitif mahasiswa yang tidak cemas dan cemas secara berurutan adalah 26,77; 26,46 dan P value 0.482. Kesimpulan Dari 56 mahasiswa fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan, 26 atau 46% mahasiswa mengalami kecemasan dan setelah dilakukan analisis bivariat, tidak terdapat perbedaan rerata nilai fungsi kognitif yang signifikan terhadap responden yang tidak mengalami kecemasan dengan yang mengalami kecemasan.
