Abstract

Background: Migraine is the sixth leading causes of disability in the world. Diagnosed of migraine is increasing as much as 50 % in one decade. Sleep quality, stress, and lack of physical activity are common daily problem in late adult - elders. However, there is still need more evidence to prove that these factors play a significant role to migraine in late adult - elders. This study investigate about the relationship of sleep quality and other predisposing factors with migraine in late adult - elders. The other predisposing factors include stress, coffee consumption, age, gender, physical activity, ethnic (tribe), education level, and family history of migraine. Aim: To understand the association between sleep quality and other predisposition factors with migraine. Material and Methods: This Cross-sectional based study, involving 120 participants 34.20% men and 65.80 % women in late adult until elders (40-81 years old). The sample data was taken by valid questionnaire. Tabulation and statistic analyzation were using common software in research. Result: The prevalence of poor sleep quality in this study is 44.2%. The prevalence of migraine in this study is 45%. This study result show that sleep quality has a significant relation with migraine (OR: 4.91; P=0.000). Family history of migraine and physical activity also has a significant relation with migraine (OR: 6.0; P=0.008) (OR: 2.600; P=0.022). Conclusion and Recommendation: Sleep quality, family history of migraine, and physical activity have significant relationship with migraine. Further research is needed to get the association between sleep quality and migraine frequency.
