Abstract

Background : Childhood asthma is a bronchoconstrictive disease that occurs among children. The incidence of childhood asthma is increasing each year. A lot of studies have been conducted to find the risk factors of asthma, in which, prematurity is one of the suspected risk. However many studies revealed that the relationship between prematurity and childhood asthma is still controversial. Aim : To study the relationship between prematurity and childhood asthma in pediatric patients at Building A and B, Siloam Hospitals. Method: This study is conducted using unpaired comparative analytic study type, and cross sectional design. The respondents are pediatric patients with age range from two to eighteen years old diagnosed with asthma at Siloam Hospitals Karawaci, and have signed the informed consent. The data acquired will be collected and tabulated by Microsoft Excel and statistically analyzed using SPSS 23. Result : There is no significant association between childhood asthma and prematurity among pediatric patients at Siloam Hospitals Karawaci (p-value = 0,237). The mean gestational age for the group of children who were previously diagnosed with asthma is 37,5 weeks. Conclusion : the history of prematurity does not have any significant association with the number of incidence of asthma in children at Siloam Hospitals Karawaci, which proves the null hypothesis of this study. Premature children have 3,2 times more risk to have asthma compared to non-premature children. [95% CI 0,57- 18,11] / Latar Belakang : Asma pada anak (childhood asthma) adalah penyakit bronkokonstriksi yang terjadi pada anak-anak, prevalensinya semakin meningkat setiap tahun. Banyak penelitian yang dilakukan untuk mencari tahu faktor-faktor risiko yang meningkatkan insiden asma pada anak-anak, salah satunya adalah riwayat kelahiran prematur, akan tetapi hubungan antara riwayat kelahiran prematur dan childhood asthma masih kontroversial. Tujuan : Mengetahui ada tidaknya hubungan riwayat kelahiran prematur dengan childhood asthma pada pasien anak di Rumah Sakit Siloam Gedung A dan B. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan tipe studi analitik komparatif tidak berpasangan dengan desain potong lintang, meliputi 62 responden yang merupakan anak-anak berusia dua hingga delapan belas tahun yang terdiagnosis asma di Rumah Sakit Siloam gedung A dan B dan telah menyetujui informed consent. Data yang diperoleh akan ditabulasikan menggunakan program Microsoft Excel dan dianalisis dengan uji statistik menggunakan SPSS 23. Hasil : Tidak ditemukan hubungan yang signifikan antara riwayat kelahiran prematur dengan kejadian asma pada anak di Rumah Sakit Siloam (p-value = 0,237). Rata-rata usia kandungan pada kelompok anak yang terdiagnosis asma adalah 37,5 minggu. Kesimpulan : Riwayat kelahiran prematur tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan terhadap kejadian asma pada anak di Rumah Sakit Siloam Karawaci. Pada anak yang lahir prematur ditemukan risiko untuk terkena asma sebanyak 3,2 kali dibanding yang tidak tidak prematur [95% CI 0,57-18,11]
