Abstract

Premenstrual syndrome(PMS) is syndrome that occurs during premenstrual phase and affect 70-90% of productive women. Etiology of PMS is remain unknown and poorly diagnosed. Some of the studies said that PMS caused by level of progresteron during lutheal phase. PMS and PMDD are often associated with mood instability and poor emotional regulation. The aim of this study is to determine the emotional impact of PMS. This study is an observasional cross-sectional study. Data were collected using Premenstrual Symptoms Severity Test (PSST) and Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) translated in Bahasa Indonesia in April-May 2018. Data were analyzed using ANOVA statistic test and Spearman correlation . Results from 89 samples shows that 71 persons (72,5%) did not experiencing PMS, 23 persons (23,5%) had PMS, and 4 persons (4,1%) had PMDD. ANOVA test shows that PMDD and non-PMS shows significant difference in emotional dysregulation (p<0,001). PMDD and PMS also showed significant difference in emotional dysregulation (p=0.017). Conclusion: severity of premenstrual syndrome has an effect that is directly proportional to the regulation of negative emotions / Sindroma pramenstruasi(PMS) merupakan suatu kumpulan gejala yang muncul pada masa pramenstruasi dan ditemukan pada 70-90% wanita dalam usia produktif.
