Abstract

Media sosial YouTube di Indonesia pada tahun 2019 memiliki jumlah pengguna terbanyak yaitu sebesar 43,00% dan generasi milenial masih menjadi kontributor utama pengguna YouTube yaitu sebesar 49.52%. Hal ini mendorong peneliti untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh YouTube terhadap generasi milenial dalam nenetukan pilihan presiden pada tahun 2019, karena berdasarkan penelitian yang sudah ada, generasi milenial dikenal sangat unik, meskipun mereka pengguna terbesar YouTube, akan tetapi politik menjadi salah satu momok bagi generasi milenial karena generasi ini dianggap paling tidak peduli soal politik, bahkan cenderung tidak menggunakan hak pilihnya pada saat pemilu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan paradigma positivis yang memiliki tujuan untuk mengkonfirmasi hubungan sebab akibat antara intensitas, jenis konten dan isu politik di YouTube terhadap sikap generasi milenial dalam menentukan pilihan presiden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang diambil sebanyak 450 orang di Kota Tangerang Selatan. Dari hasil pengujian dan analsisi data, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa YouTube memiliki pengaruh yang cukup besar terhadap generasi milenial dalam menentukan pilihan presiden pada pemilu 2019. / Social media YouTube in Indonesia 2019 has the highest number of users at 43.00% and millennial generation is still the main contributor to YouTube users at 49.52%. This encourages researchers to find out how much influence YouTube has on millennial generation in determining presidential choice in 2019, because based on existing research, millennial generation is known to be very unique, even though they are YouTube's biggest users, but politics is one of the scourges for millennial generation because this generation is considered the least concerned about political issues, and even tends not to use their voting rights during elections. This study uses a quantitative approach with a positivist paradigm that aims to confirm the causal relationship between the intensity, type of content and political issues on YouTube to the attitude of millennial generation in determining presidential choices. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire taken as many as 450 people in South Tangerang City. From the test results and data analysis, it can be concluded that YouTube has a large enough influence on millennial generation in determining presidential choices in the 2019 elections.
