Abstract

Pesatnya kemajuan teknologi tidak bisa dipungkiri semakin memanjakan manusia, salah satunya dalam hal berkomunikasi. Di Indonesia, netizen menghabiskan banyak waktunya menggunakan mobile app pada smartphone dibanding menggunakan komputer atau laptop. Sekitar 82% netizen di Indonesia mengakses melalui mobile app, sementara hanya 8% yang mengakses melalui komputer atau laptop. Netizen yang ingin praktis menjadikan smartphonenya sebagai alat untuk menyelesaikan banyak masalah di hidupnya. Perkembangan ini menimbulkan gaya hidup yang baru di kalangan masyarakat, seperti gaya pemakaian smartphone. Hal tersebut menimbulkan fenomena dimana masyarakat Indonesia menjadi gemar mengganti produk smartphone, fenomena ini menunjukkan perilaku masyarakat di Indonesia yang sering melakukan brand switching terhadap smartphone itu sendiri. Jika dimanfaatkan dengan benar, smartphone bisa digunakan untuk menunjang aktivitas pekerjaan sehari-hari. Oleh karena itu, penulis memilih meneliti proses ini untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan media komunikasi iPhone X pada kalangan pekerja, mahasiswa dan ibu rumah tangga di Karawaci. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan dengan wawancara dan observasi sebagai sumber data primer, serta studi kepustakaan sebagai pelengkap data sekunder. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui sudut pandang ekonomi/bisnis, gaya hidup, networking, pengetahuan dan hiburan terdapat tiga kategori. Secara global dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagai seorang pekerja, informan 1 dapat memanfaatkan kelebihan iPhone X sesuai dengan fungsi dan kebutuhannya baik kebutuhan pribadi maupun kebutuhan informasi. Sementara sebagai seorang pelajar informan 2 dan 3 terkadang dapat memanfaatkan kelebihan iPhone X untuk kebutuhan informasi disamping menggunakan untuk kebutuhan pribadi. Sedangkan informan 4, tidak memanfaatkan kelebihan iPhone X sebagai media komunikasi tetapi hanya dimanfaatkan untuk kebutuhan hiburan. / Technological advances have led people to create new forms of interaction and communication. The rapid technological progress can not be denied for indulgent human beings, one of them in terms of communication. In Indonesia, netizens spend a lot of time using smartphone in mobile app rather than using computer or laptop. Approximately 82% of netizens in Indonesia access through the mobile app, while only 8% access through computer or laptop. Netizens who want to make smartphonenya practical as a tool to solve many problems in his life. This development raises a new lifestyle in the community, such as the style of smartphone usage. This raises the phenomenon in which the Indonesian people become fond of changing smartphone products, this phenomenon shows the behavior of people in Indonesia who often do brand switching to the smartphone itself. If used properly, the smartphone can be used to support daily work activities. Therefore, the authors choose to examine this research to determine the utilization of iPhone X communication media among workers, students and housewives in Karawaci. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive research method. The research data was collected by interview and observation as primary data source, and library study as complementary of secondary data. The results shows that from the point of view of economy / business, lifestyle, networking, knowledge and entertainment, there are three categories. Globally it can be concluded that as a worker, informant 1 can utilize the advantages of iPhone X in accordance with the function and needs. While as an informant 2 and 3 students can sometimes take advantage of the advantages of iPhone X for the needs of school or college tasks in addition to using for personal use. While the informant 4, did not take advantage of the advantages of the iPhone X as a medium of communication but only used for entertainment.
