Abstract

Impression managamement ialah proses dimana seorang individu secara sengaja menggunakan komunikasi untuk menciptakan kesan yang di harapkan oleh orang lain terhadap dirinya. Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari setiap individu pasti melakukan impression management, terutama bagi seorang pemimpin, seperti Gubernur Jawa Barat, Ridwan Kamil. Ridwan Kamil menggunakan strategi impression management untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada publik, salah satunya untuk mengkomunikasikan program pemerintah yaitu mewujudkan JABAR JUARA melalui akun Instagram (@ridwankamil) dengan #JABARJUARA. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti ingin mengetahui strategi impression management yang di gunakan oleh Ridwan Kamil melalui komunikasi penggunaan #JABARJUARA dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi kuantitatif. Peneliti mengambil data berdasarkan posting-an Instagram Ridwan Kamil (@ridwankamil) dengan #JABARJUARA dimulai dari tanggal 1 September 2018 - 31 Desember 2018 sebanyak 8 posting-an. Strategi impression management yang digunakan peneliti adalah strategi imperession management dari Jones dan Pitman (1982) yang meliputi: ingratation, intimidation, self promotion, exemplification dan supplication. / Impression management is the process by which an individual intentionally use communication to create an impression that others expect of him. Everyday individual must make an impression management, especially for a leader, such as the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil. Ridwan Kamil use the impression management strategy to deliver messages to the public, to communicate the government program, such as JABAR JUARA through an Instagram account (@ridwankamil) with #JABARJUARA.In this study, researcher want to know the impression management strategy use by Ridwan Kamil through communication using #JABARJUARA by using quantitative content analysis methods. The researcher retrieves data based on Ridwan Kamil's Instagram posts (@ridwankamil) with #JABARJUARA starting from September 1, 2018 - December 31, 2018 as many as 31 posts. The impression management strategy use by researcher is the imperession management strategy from Jones and Pitman (1982) which includes: ingratation, intimidation, self promotion, exemplification and supplication.
