Abstract

Asian Games merupakan ajang olahraga internasional terbesar di Asian dan nomor dua setelah Olimpiade di dunia. Indonesia menjadi tuan rumah Asian Games XVII adalah strategi diplomasi Indonesia dalam mencapai kepentingan Indonesia dalam bidang politik serta ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kepentingan politik dan ekonomi apa yang ingin Indonesia capai dalam Asian Games XVII. Teori realisme serta konsep kepentingan dan diplomasi publik digunakan sebagai dasar kerangka berpikir dari penelitian ini. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode deskriptif untuk menjabarkan kepentingan Indonesia dalam penyelenggaraan Asian Games XVII. Dimana kepentingan Indonesia dibagi menjadi dua yaitu politik yang termasuk citra positif dan promosi budaya serta kepentingan ekonomi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui studi pustaka dan penelusuran daring, yang hasilnya akan dikelompokkan dan dianalisa dengan teknik naratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan konsep kepentingan, penyelenggaraan Asian Games XVII memiliki kepentingan yang ingin Indonesia capai dalam bidang politik dan ekonomi. Walaupun Indonesia bukan menjadi pilihan pertama dalam menjadi tuan rumah Asian Games XVII yang membuat waktu persiapan menjadi sangat terbatas, tetapi Indonesia tetap berhasil dalam pelaksanaannya dengan menunjukkan Energy of Asia./The Asian Games is the largest international sporting event in Asia and number two after the Olympics in the world. The hosting of Asian Games XVII has interests where Indonesia wanted to achieve in the political and economic fields. Therefore, this study aims to find out what political and economic interests Indonesia wants to achieve in the XVII Asian Games. The theory of realism and the concept of interests and public diplomacy are used as the basis for the framework of this research. Furthermore, this research is a qualitative study that uses descriptive methods to describe the interests of Indonesia in the Asian Games XVII. Where the interests of Indonesia are divided into two namely politics which includes a positive image and promotion of culture and economic interests Data collection techniques are carried out through library studies and online searches, the results of which will be grouped and analyzed with narrative techniques. The results showed that based on the concept of interests, the holding of the Asian Games XVII had interests that Indonesia wanted to achieve in the political and economic fields. Although Indonesian is not the first choice in hosting the Asian Games XVII which makes preparation time very limited, but Indonesia still succeeded in its implementation by showing the Energy of Asia.
