Abstract

As time goes by, all aspects of life grow. Illnesses are one of the those and it keeps developing. Cancer is one of the illness that holds the highest mortality rate, and the one responsible for killing tons of women out there is cervical cancer. Until now, tons of cases are recorded on death from cervical cancer, and Indonesia made into the list of countries all around the world that has lost its citizens from cervical cancer. Though it’s very dangerous, the awareness of cervical cancer is still low. This research uses the qualitative approach with descriptive research methodology. Data are gathered using primary data, which are through interviews, as well as secondary data through observations on non-participants and documentations. Interviews are done to three key informants, which are the Ministry of Health, a doctor specializes in cervical cancer and one of the vaccine provider company. This research shows that the government’s communication strategy in building awareness on cervical cancer is not very effective, causing Indonesian women to lack information. However, the raising number of cervical cancer cases in Indonesia also comes from themselves, by being reluctant to do early check-up which can prevent or cure early stage cases.
