Abstract
Media massa telah menjadi medium untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada khalayak banyak. Lebih lanjut, media massa memiliki peranan besar dalam membentuk opini masyarakat, salah satunya dalam pembentukan identitas dan peran perempuan di masyarakat. Perempuan seringkali dipandang remeh atas perannya dan dianggap hanya dapat bekerja dalam sektor domestik. Namun pada kenyataannya, sudah terdapat banyak perempuan bekerja yang hebat pada bidangnya masing-masing. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti ingin menganalisa representasi perempuan bekerja pada majalah Cosmopolitan Indonesia edisi Maret 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi berdasarkan teori Semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan melalui dokumentasi dan studi pustaka. Unit analisis berupa artikel-artikel pada majalah Cosmopolitan Indonesia edisi Maret 2018 yang menggambarkan representasi perempuan bekerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa representasi pada perempuan bekerja dapat ditunjukkan melalui tiga konsep, yakni percaya diri, perkasa, dan pemberani. Perempuan bekerja digambarkan sebagai sosok yang mandiri serta independen yang dapat membuatnya lebih tenang dan bertanggung jawab atas pekerjaannya. Selain itu, perempuan bekerja juga digambarkan sebagai sosok yang tangguh, berambisi, gigih serta pantang menyerah dalam memperjuangkan dan mempertahankan hak-haknya dalam dunia kerja yang dilakukan dengan membuktikan aktualisasi diri dan menyuarakan pendapatnya. / Mass media has become a medium to convey messages to many audiences. Furthermore, mass media has a large role in shaping public opinion, one of which is establishing the identity and role of women in society. Women recall the role above and are considered only able to work in the domestic sector. But on success, there are many working woman who are great in their respective fields. Based on this, the researcher wants to analyze the representation of working woman in the March 2018 edition of Cosmopolitan Indonesia magazine. This research uses qualitative methods of content analysis based on Ferdinand de Saussure's Semiotics theory. Data collection research is carried out through study and literature. The analysis unit consists of articles in the March 2018 edition of the Cosmopolitan Indonesia magazine that represent representation of working woman. The results of the study show that representation in working woman can be discussed through three concepts, namely self-confidence, strength, and courage. A working woman who is described as an independent and independent figure who can calm and be responsible for her work. In addition, working woman are also described as tough, ambitious, persistent and never give up in fighting for and defending their rights in the world of work done by proving self-actualization and voicing their opinions.
