Abstract

Penelitian kali ini berbasis eksplorasi material baru. Material baru yang digunakan merupakan smart material yang dapat mengalami perubahan bentuk karena adanya perubahan suhu (dingin ke panas). Material ini terbuat dari bahan nikel dan titanium yang biasa disebut nitinol. Material ini biasa dikenal sebagai shape memory alloy karena keunikan untuk mengingat bentuk dan memiliki kemampuan untuk berubah bentuk ke posisi awal saat suhu berubah jadi panas. Luar negeri sangat banyak menggunakan produk ini yang diaplikasikan pada produk- produk industri yang memudahkan mereka dari segi biaya dan fungsi. Namun berbeda dengan Indonesia, material ini terdengar asing dan sangat disayangkan jika tidak di kembangkan dan diteliti lebih lagi di Indonesia. Karena seiring perkembangan zaman, smart material merupakan salah satu cara untuk menjawab berbagai berbagai persoalan dalam kehidupan di zaman modern. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti, mengembangkan dan sekaligus memperkenalkan smart material di Indonesia. Penulis ingin meneliti dan mengembangkan lebih jauh mengenai smart material melalui pendekatan energi panas sebagai sifat utamanya untuk mengaplikasikan desain pada produk sehari- hari agar mudah dijumpai dan dengan mudah memperkenalkan material ini pada orang awam di Indonesia. Produk yang sangat tepat diaplikasikan dari segi pendekatan energi panas, estetika, dan mudah dijumpai adalah lampu. / This research is based on exploration of new materials. The new material used is smart material that can undergo changes in shape due to changes in temperature (cold to hot). This material is made of nickel and titanium, commonly called nitinol. This material is commonly known as shape memory alloy because of its uniqueness to remember shapes and has the ability to change shape to the initial position when the temperature turns hot. Many foreign countries use this product which is applied to industrial products that facilitate them in terms of cost and function. But unlike Indonesia, this material sounds foreign and it’s unfortunate if it is not further developed and researched in Indonesia. Because along with the times, smart material is one way to answer various problems in life in modern times. Therefore, this research aims to research, develop, and at the same time introduce smart materials in Indonesia. The author would like to further research and develop smart materials through the thermal energy approach as its main characteristic to apply the design to everyday products so that they are easily found and easily introduce this material to ordinary people in Indonesia. A very appropriate product to be applied in terms of thermal energy, aesthetic, and easy to find approach is a lamp.
