Abstract
Penggunaan perangkat elektronik yang terus meningkat menyebabkan jumlah WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) yang sangat tinggi dan tidak terkontrol. Salah satu perangkat elektronik dengan jumlah limbah terbanyak adalah telepon genggam. Faktor-faktor utama yang mempengaruhi permasalahan tersebut adalah ketidakbertanggungjawaban produsen terhadap limbah, tingkat kesulitan proses pembongkaran telepon genggam yang sangat tinggi, serta tingkat kesadaran masyarakat yang sangat rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang sebuah telepon genggam yang mudah dibongkar, sekaligus mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai pentingnya mengolah limbah telepon genggam dengan menggunakan pendekatan EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility). Dalam proses perancangan, penulis melakukan berbagai studi literatur, observasi, wawancara, dan survei terhadap pihak profesional, pengguna, dan tukang reparasi telepon genggam. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses tersebut adalah metode design cycle untuk memastikan agar arah dan tujuan riset tetap jelas selama proses berlangsungnya perancangan. Hasil dari perancangan penulis menunjukkan bahwa telepon genggam yang mudah dibongkar serta keterlibatan pengguna dalam pengiriman kembali produk kepada produsen berhasil memcahkan permasalahan limbah yang tidak terkontrol. / The increasing demand and use of electronic devices caused a very high and uncontrollable amount of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). One of the many devices with huge amount of waste was mobile phone. The main factors causing such problem including producer’s irresponsibility towards products’ end of life phase, a high level on mobile phone dismantling difficulty, and a low level of user awareness. The aim of this study was to design a mobile phone with low level dismantling difficulty, along with educating user about the importance of processing mobile phone waste, with EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) approach. During the design process, researcher conducted a variety of literature studies, observations, interviews, and surveys towards professionals, users, and mobile phone repairmen. The method that was used for this study was design cycle, this was done to ensure the direction and objective of the research remain clear throughout the design process. Result shows that easy-to-dismantle mobile phone, along with user involvement in sending it back to the producer succeeds on solving the problem ofuncontrolled WEEE.
