Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menformulasikan faktor perancangan arsitektur kontemplatif pada konteks urban. Penilitian berdasar pada kemampuan arsitektur dalam mempengaruhi atmosfir dan pengalaman penggunjung, dengan menggunakan beberapa teori faktor pembentuk atmosfir ruang kontemplasi yang diselidiki hubungannya. Teori utama yang digunakan merupakan teori karakteristik pembentuk pengalaman kontemplatif fisik (elemen) yang dapat memicu perasaan subjektif (properti). Elemen fisik mempengaruhi properti subjektif secara langsung maupun tidak langsung, kumpulan properti subjektif ini yang kemudian mendorong rasa kontemplatif. Kualitas kesakralan sekuler yang sering dihubungkan dengan pengalaman kontemplatif juga menjadi objek penelitian. Secular sacred yang tidak bergantung pada konotasi religius dan ketuhanan digunakan untuk memusatkan perhatian pada elemen arsitektur dalam membentuk pengalaman. Dua faktor utama pembentuk pengalaman arsitektur adalah cahaya dan suara. Dengan menganalisis karakteristik cahaya dan cara memanipulasinya, perancangan dapat dilakukan untuk membentuk arsitektur yang menghasilkan komposisi pencahayaan yang mendukung kesakralan. Suara yang merupakan sebuah elemen arsitektur yang dapat meningkatkan kompleksitas serta identitas pengalaman spasial juga diselidiki karakteristik serta faktor pembentuknya. Arsitektur aural, yang merupakan pemilihan kualitas suara untuk mengubah pengalaman spasial seseorang adalah fokus dari teori suara pada arsitektur di penelitian ini. Dengan menggunakan teori properti kontemplatif sebagai teori utama, teori cahaya dan suara akan bekerja sebagai teori pendukung dalam menciptakan properti pendukung ruang kontemplatif. Teori elemen dan properti kontemplatif yang dikombinasikan dengan teori cahaya dan suara menciptakan pendekatan strategis dalam merancang arsitektur kontemplatif yang melekat pada tapak. Strategi perancangan dimanifestasikan dalam bentuk chamber yang menitikberatkan masing-masing komposisi pencahayaan yang ada dengan memperhatikan teori elemen ruang kontemplasi sebagai pedoman awal perancangan. / This study aims to formulate the design factors for contemplative architecture in an urban context. The research is based on the ability of architecture to influence atmosphere and the experience of users by using several theories of the factors forming the atmosphere of contemplative space that are investigated for their relationship. The main theory used is the theory of the characteristics forming physical contemplative experiences (elements) that can trigger subjective feelings (property) to form contemplative space. These physical elements can affect subjective properties both directly and indirectly, this collection of subjective properties then encourages contemplative experience. The quality of secular sacredness that is often associated with contemplative experiences is also the object of this study. Secular sacred that does not depend on religious connotation and divinity are used to focus the attention solely on architectural elements in shaping one’s experience. The two main factors that shape architectural experience are light and sound. By analyzing the characteristics of light and how to manipulate it, design can be done to form an architecture that produces lighting compositions capable of inducing the feeling of sacredness. Sound, which is an architectural element that can increase the complexity and identity of spatial experience, is also investigated for its characteristics and its affecting factors. Aural architecture, which is the selection of sound to change one's spatial experience, is the main sound theory about architecture used in this study. By using the theory of contemplative space properties as the main theory, the theory of light and sound will work as supporting theory in formulating the design factors for contemplative architecture. The theory of contemplative elements and properties combined with the light and sound theory will therefore create a strategic approach toward designing a contemplative architecture that is grounded to the site. The design strategy is manifested in the form of a chamber which emphasizes each existing lighting composition by taking into account the theory of the contemplative space element as an initial guideline of design.
