Abstract

Royal Caribbean sebagai salah satu perusahaan kapal pesiar membuat inovasi dengan membangun Kapal Pesiar Ms.Voyager of the Seas. Desain Ms. Voyager of the Seas sampai sekarang masih menjadi trademark Royal Caribbean dan masih diminati orang-orang walau sudah banyak kapal pesiar lain yang lebih mewah dan megah. Seiring berjalannya waktu, kapal pesiar Voyagers mengalami perubahan pola penumpang dan sekarang lebih diminati sebagi sarana untuk beristirahat. Oleh karena itu, desain dan konsep perancangan dibuat untuk memenuhi kebutuhan penumpang saat ini. Teori perancangan menggunakan teori Charles Wallschlaeger dan Cynthia Busic Snyder. Penyelesain masalah dimulai dengan bentuk dan elemen desain dan setelah itu mengubahnya menjadi konsep. Konsep yang telah dipilih, dibandingkan lagi dengan faktor manusia sebagai pengguna desain dan dimensi manusia sehingga menghasilkan desain yang mencukupi dalam segi komunikasi manusia dan desain visual. Data didukung dengan literatur, observasi, dan wawancara. Dari hasil rancangan dapat dibuktikan bahwa dengan zoning baru yang mengelompokan ruang berdasarkan kegiatan, dapat membantu penumpang dalam mengingat area dan mempermudah mobilisasi. Desain Izumi Japanese Dinning, Diamond Lounge, dan kabin penumpang dapat dengan mudah dimengerti oleh kaum awam melalui pemilihan konsep dan penggunaan form yang signifikan./ Royal Caribbean, as one of the first cruise ship liner, made their outbreak innovation with Ms. Voyager of the Seas Cruise Ship. The main goal is to attract attention of people who are not familiar with the cruise ship lifestyle. The design itself is now known as Royal Caribbean’s trademark and still in demand by people even though there are more new, luxurious, and futuristic cruise ship. As the time goes by, Voyager cruise ships improve the transportation patterns and changed into a leisure accommodation for its passengers. Therefore, the designs should be improve to meet the needs of today’s passengers. The design use design theory by Charles Wallschaegen and Cynthia Busic Snyder “Basic Visual Concept”. It start with the forms and design elements, then, the problem solving turned into a concept statement. The concepts that have been chosen, compared again with another aspect such as human factors and human dimensions. With all this process, concepts produce a design that sufficient in terms of human communication and visual design aspects. The design analysis also supported by literatures, observations, and interviews. Design result can be proven by new zoning that classifies space based on user’s activities, which can help passengers in remembering the areas and simplify the circulation. Izumi Japanese Restaurant, Diamond Lounge, and passengers cabins’s visuals and circulation are easily understood by users through the selection of concept and significant form that used.
