Abstract
Identitas visual adalah hal yang tidak asing lagi bagi kita. Secara tidak sadar, masyarakat dapat mengenal dan mengingat suatu brand melalui identitas visual yang selalu menempel dengannya. Karena itu, suatu identitas visual sebaiknya dapat merepresentasikan sebuah brand dengan koheren. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis memilih Water Boom, sebuah taman rekreasi air yang terletak di Lippo Cikarang, sebagai subjek dari studi kasus. Berdasarkan riset yang telah dilakukan, penulis menemukan bahwa identitas visual Water Boom masih memiliki ruang untuk perbaikan khususnya dalam hal koherensi dengan karakteristik brand-nya. Maka itu tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah untuk menunjukkan upaya pembuatan sistem identitas visual yang lebih koheren terhadap Water Boom. Proses perancangan ulang ini dimulai dengan riset untuk mendapatkan data, kemudian dilakukan analisis terhadap identitas visual dengan membandingkannya dengan teori identitas visual tertentu dan teori desain pendukung lainnya; untuk mengetahui apakah identitas visual Water Boom sesuai dengan teori yang ada. Kesimpulan yang didapat dari hasil analisis tersebut kemudian digunakan sebagai dasar untuk perancangan ulang. Upaya perancangan ulang dilakukan dengan mengikuti proses-proses menurut teori identitas visual yang ada. Eksplorasi visual dilakukan dengan bantuan berbagai metode dan arahan gaya yang berbeda. Seperti hasil karya yang seharusnya, perancangan ulang identitas visual ini juga diaplikasikan pada sejumlah benda pendukung. / Visual identity is something that we are not foreign to. Unconsciously, people can identify and recognize a brand by its adhering visual identity. Therefore, visual identity is best when it can represent a brand coherently. In this research, the author has chosen Water Boom, a water recreation park based in Lippo Cikarang, as the subject of the case study. Based on the research that has been done, the author finds that there is still room for improvement for Water Boom’s visual identity especially in terms of its coherency with the brand’s characteristics. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to show an attempt on redesigning a visual identity that is more coherent to Water Boom. The redesigning process starts with a research to gather information, then an analysis is done to the existing visual identity by comparing it with certain visual identity theories and other supporting design theories; to find out if Water Boom’s visual identity suits the existing theories. The conclusion of the analysis is then used as a base for the redesign process. The attempt of redesigning is done by following the steps according to the existing visual identity design theories. The visual exploration is done with several methods and a new visual direction. The outcome of the visual identity redesign is applied in various supporting items as it should be.
