Abstract

Perkembangan era desain membawa perubahan bagaimana manusia berkomunikasi. Kini komunikasi dapat dilakukan dengan cara baru, yaitu melalui hasil pengolahan tipografi. Tipografi tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai suatu mekanisme untuk dibaca, namun dapat dilihat sebagai sebuah bentuk, yang dapat menyampaikan ekspresi. Salah satu sarana yang dapat digunakan adalah dengan media instalasi. Instalasi tipografi ditampilkan pada medium virtual reality untuk membawa khalayak masuk ke dalam latar waktu dan tempat cerita yang ingin disampaikan. Instalasi ini berjudul Tapak Tilas Rasus. Kata “Tapak” berarti jalan, dan “Tilas” berarti masa lampau, merupakan sebuah karya instalasi berupa simulasi perjalanan kehidupan seorang anak laki-laki bernama Rasus yang di dalam dirinya penuh dengan konflik batin. Konten cerita diambil dari buku pertama novel Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk karya Ahmad Tohari, sastrawan asal Banyumas. Karya instalasi akan menempatkan pengunjung masuk dalam dunia Rasus secara virtual. Ketika pengunjung memasuki dunia virtual, mereka akan melihat tipografi yang akan mengantarkan sampai akhir cerita. / The evolution of design carry changes in the way human communicates. Today, communication can be done in new ways, such as from the treatment of typography. Not only works as a mechanism for read, typography can also be seen as a form that express expression. One of the way to show expression is through an installation. Typographic installation displayed through virtual reality allows human as the audience to enter the time and space, where the story happened. The title of this installation is “Tapak Tilas Rasus”. The title “Tapak” means way, and “Tilas” means the past, is an installation that display a travel simulation of a young men called Rasus in which holds a heavy burden and conflict within his inner heart. The content of the story is taken from the first book of Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk by Ahmad Tohari, a writer born in Banyumas. The installation works takes the audience to Rasus’s world virtually. When the audience enters the virtual world, they will be able to apprehend the typography which will take them through the journey until the end of the story.
