Abstract

The fierce competition in businesses has urge companies to be competitive in order to survive in the industry. Moreover, in Indonesia itself, one of the potential, yet competitive industry is the paper industry, in which. As a result, this industry could have an intense competition. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out whether competitive advantage has an effect on firm’s performance at PT Karunia Global Lestari Competitive advantage is a value owned by a firm that sets it apart from the competitors. Meanwhile, firm’s performance is the overall performance of the firm, and how it achieved goals more effectively. Having a competitive advantage will in turn result in customer loyalty and contribute to profitability This research is using quantitative approach. As a part of quantitative approach, descriptive and causal study are used. Besides, the population of this research consists of 195 employees at PT Karunia Global Lestari and the sample size taken is 59 employees by using purposive sampling method in distributing the questionnaires. The data obtained is then analyzed and calculated through some statistical test in order to test the quality of the data itself and to test the hypothesis. Pretest was also done beforehand to make sure the data is valid and reliable enough before distributing it to the real sample. From the result of the test, it is obtained that alternate hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected and the determination result is 74.5%. Therefore, Competitive advantage has effect on firm’s performance at PT Karunia Global Lestari for as big as 74.5%./Kompetisi yang sangat kuat dalam bisnis telah menyebabkan perusahaan-perusahaan untuk menjadi lebih kompetitif daripada sebelumnya agar tetap bisa bertahan dalam industrinya. Terlebih lagi, di Indonesia, salah satu industri yang memiliki potensi paling besar adalah industri kertas. Alhasil, kompetisi di industri ini akan menjadi lebih ketat. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari skripsi ini adalah untuk mencari tahu apakah kelebihan kompetitif berdampak pada performa perusahaan atau tidak pada PT Karunia Global Lestari. Kelebihan kompetitif adalah nilai yang dimiliki oleh sebuah perushaaan yang membedakan perusahaan tersebut dengan yang lainnya. Selain itu, kinerja perusahaan menunjukkan performa perusahaan secara menyeluruh dan bagaimana perusahaan tersebut mencapai tujuannya secara efektif dan efisien. Dengan adanya kelebihan kompetitif, perusahaan akan mendapatkan kustomer yang setia yang akhirnya akan membuahkan keuntungan yang lebih. Skripsi ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan sebagai bagian dari kuantitatif, skripsi ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dan kausal. Terlebih lagi, populasi dalam skripsi ini berjumlah 195 karyawan di PT Karunia Global Lestari dan sampel yang diambil adalah 59 karyawan. Kuesioner dibagi dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Data yang terkumpul kemudian di analisis menggunkan perhitungan statistic dengan melalui berbagai macam pengujian. Sebelum membagikan kuesioner ke sampel yang sebenarnya, uji Pretest juga dilakukan untuk menguji apakah kuesioner cukup valid dan reliabel untuk digunakan. Dari hasil analisis data, terbukti bahwa hipotesis nol ditolak dan hipotesis alternative diterima. Maka, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kelebihan kompetitif memberikan efek kepada kinerja perusahaan pada PT Karunia Global Lestari sebesar 74.5%.
